Quite an experience, did not what to expect. A busy port, plenty of activity, tourist boats, commercial boats, a concert being prepared. You can get some good photos with the sea and the boats. As someone who is not very passionate about the sea, I actually enjoyed walking around. Not an absolute must, but worth seeing.

When compared to my home town this cost a lot. I cane here to experience the culture and not get ripped off due to being British. A shame. But Avery nice afternoon otherwise.

Odessa passenger terminal is located some 10-15 minutes walking passing the most beautiful historic places. You have a chance to climb 192 steps of Potemkin Stairs known worldwide from the famous movie. For your comfort you may take an elevator (funiculaire). Reaching the top you can enjoy a dramatic view of the Odessa Bay. The best restaurants, cafes, boutiques are quite close. No need to hire a taxi or use public transportation. Plenty of opportunities to take pictures as you are surrounded by nice buildings and monuments. Whatever you need can be found there.
The best time to visit is April- October.

Unfortunately I did not listen to my friend. I wanted to ship a car to Moldova. Odessa seemed to be the closest port. I was advised NOT to ship through Odessa, that I should ship it to Germany and then drive it or have it shipped to Moldova by truck. I wish I had listened. Three weeks after arrival at the port in Odessa the car is still in the container, the customs broker refuses to provide proper paperwork and tells me I will have to pay $51,000 cash deposit to Ukranian customs until the vehicle is in Moldova. Plus they have hit me with nearly $2000 in storage fees on the car. Never Never Never ship anything into Odessa.

Our ship was docked here for a few days & we found the port to be interesting & close to many attractions. However, I would not come here if I wasn't staying here.

Our vessel was docked here so it was for us very convenient and an easy walk into the city center. There are boat rides for rent and a few restaurants with nice views of the harbor. Crane activity moving product around and many couples having their wedding photos taken. Nice walk and sights.

The harbour is grey in grey and there is not much to see. Still, on a sunny day it is worth going there

We decided to take a harbor excursion. It was all narrated in Ukrainian. However, it was delightful to see the beach which our hotel owned from the sea

you can lean on the railings and moodily stare at the cranes and gantrys and the oily black water. You can listen to the clanking of chains and the sound of coal being poured into ships' holds. You can hear the shouting and whistles of harbourmasters. You can watch rusty tubs with Cyrillic names getting up steam alongside the quays. If this does not appeal to you, go back to Wisconsin.

Quite a big port with a few ocean liners and many bulk carriers. If you want to see the coast line of the city, the tourist ships are located here.
The most amazing was to see real wild dolphins jumping out of the water just in the center of the bay.

I would like to know if there is a ferry service from Odessa to either Istanbul or Piraeus.

Добрый день! Насколько я знаю, есть паромное сообщение из Черноморска (Ильичёвск по-старому) в Стамбул.
