Pleasant park which unfortunately does not do justice to its unique history
sty 2021
The park is pleasant enough and even somewhat photogenic. What's special about this particular piece of greenery is of course its past - the famed (or notorious - depending on your perspective) Walled City. Unfortunately not much is left as the walled city was totally demolished to make way for the park, only an old building with some displays remained to bring back bits of history. Do not expect anything that would really bring back what it truly was like in the walled city last century - ironically a park is exactly the wrong setting for that.

Walled city in a city with many fancies
lis 2020
The park was converted from a notorious “walled city” within a city. This was a special zone where it was not officially ruled by the Hong Kong government but the late Qing dynasty. It was very special in the colonial history & was torn down after signing the Sino-British agreement on Hong Kong. With restoration according to an ancient southern China buildings & parks, the new park has been very scenic. The Qing county officer building has been restored to show its historical glory.

Long walk that was a little disappointing
maj 2019
Having only seen pictures from researching Hong Kong as a travel destination it is a shame that I was unable to see the famed Walled City in person. Of course there were many issues including organized crime, drugs, health and safety etc. that resulted in it's demolition in the early 90's a park with some remains are now in it's place. For a city known for it's countless skyscrapers it has quite a few parks with some being a fair size considering how expensive land is. It was relatively peaceful and had many people out picnicking or just laying under a shady tree in the middle of the day. There are some old stone foundations and basic structures that are there as a monument to what was sitting on the land just a few decades earlier but other than that it is a park with greenery and pathways, nothing special

Kowloon Walled City Park

A beautiful little park to visit in Hong Kong, with its pavillions, ponds and flowers. Was really interesting to learn about its history, once being a self governed high rise shanty town houisng over 41,000 people, before its demolition in 1993. There was a little exhibition in the Alms House that explained the history of the park.

Gorgeous park and an interesting site for lovers of urban history
paź 2019
I came here because I studied urban planning and have been fascinated by Kowloon Walled City for years - for those who don't know it was the site of an infamous slum enclave and the most densely settled area of all time. I figured it would be a typical city park with the scale model of the city that I'd heard about. Was surprised to see a gorgeous traditional Chinese garden with covered walkways and fish ponds set in the middle of a larger park. Locals come here to stroll around and meditate but it felt very serene and almost empty on a weekday. Next to the original south gate and the scale model, the preserved original temple house of Kowloon Walled City has a small but interesting exhibit on the history of the place. 15 minutes walk away is Wong Tai Sin temple, I highly recommend coming to the area to visit both.

A wonderful park
maj 2019
We really enjoy this wonderful park in Kowloon! There are numerous special spots (birds/aviary, swimming pools, special tree area, etc.) It's just nice to have such a large space for one to wander, relax and still be in a busy city. It's well maintained and locals seem to value and utilize it.

Interesting even on a rainy day
sie 2019
Caught the MTR to Lok Fu and a steady walk to the walled city. Just as we arrived at the entrance the rain started, quite heavy. But being senior citizens, we are always prepared for inclement weather, so out came the brollies. The park exudes calmness.
Take your time and read all the displays, we found them informative. We took about 2 hours to go around the park, on occasions just sitting and relaxing appreciating the scenery. Worth going to see.

Park on the remains of the previous Walled City

Oasis in the city. A lot of water features and pathways in the woods. Also exhibitions on the walled city. The only shame was the lack of preserved buildings.

Interesting displays, not exhausting to explore
sie 2019
Went here using bus because no MTR station nearby (the nearest is Lok Fu about 1+ km away) on a hot Tuesday afternoon. Wifi is available at some spots as well as benches. The displays are really informative, the whole park is clean and you would not easily get lost. Explored the park about 30 minutes is enough and the pond filled with turtles really give a calming feeling!

Great Park, Inncredible Story
lip 2019 • Dla rodziny
This is a beautiful park in the middle of Hong Kong, very pleasant to walk around and enjoy different themed gardens. Even more interesting is the story of the walled city, the exhibits that tell the story in the middle of the park and the pictures in various locations. It is an incredible story of an area outside of government regulation and administration over 50 years and with 30-5000 people living there."The most densely populated area on earth." I would have like to hear even more. It is easy to get to on the No 1 bus and there are apparently free guided tours that operate some days. We were able to join on the day we went. Take some water or a drink as the refreshment centre in the middle is not operating and it can be very hot and humid.
