A hidden building at the Duquesa de Parcent Square ...
mar 2019
After visiting the "Iglesia de Santa María la Mayor" at the "Plaza de la Duquesa de Parcent" in Ronda's old town, your attention will certainly be caught by an outstanding construction - a palace dating from 1734, which was formerly used for military purposes (as barracks or Army prison). Today it houses the "Ayuntamiento de Ronda" (City Hall). A serie of arches are displayed around its façade, inside a beautiful plenary room and moorish coffered ceilings located just above the main staircase. A quick visit, a few pics and its done. Enjoy!

The Hidden Café
lip 2019 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
Perhaps there was some subconscious reason behind deciding to house the town hall councilors, their staff and the police station in an impressive building that was originally constructed as a military prison. This notable edifice was constructed in 1734, the same year that the Templete de los Ahorcados was built. These days there are various administration offices housed within the Ayuntamiento building as well as the councilors and police. At present there is apparently, a café housed on the lower floor that is open to the public as well as those who work within the town hall. Out of curiosity, I went into the entrance hall, but could see no signs indicating the presence of the café. At this point, I must admit that I chickened out and left, in case I wandered into areas that I was not supposed to be when looking for this elusive café. Perhaps I will be a little less timorous when next I am in Ronda?
It would appear that there are plans to move much of the Ayuntamiento administration to new offices on the outskirts of the growing city. Perhaps this may be due to a lack of space? It could be interesting to see what might be done as well with the old town hall in Plaza Duquesa de Parcent. I have the feeling that it could make quite an impressive hotel.

Thanks for reading this and if you've found it helpful I'd appreciate a ‘thumbs up’ below.

Impressive Structure
wrz 2018 • Pary
Located on a beautiful plaza, this is an impressive centuries old government building with its two story flag draped arched facade. It is bordered by Ronda's cathedral and the greenery of a large manicured park with fountain and benches for a relaxing respite from the rigors of touring! Definitely stop by!
