In short, the clues were in the wrong rooms and we were offered no apology or reimbursement. We finished early, however, we were forced to stay for the remaining time as we didn’t complete the escape room by working out all the clues in their correct order. We also had to wait for at least 5 minutes (most likely more) for our iPad to be replaced as it ran out of battery at the beginning of our time their. As we were made to stay until the time ran out we spent 25 minutes working out clues despite already finishing. When the timer did eventually time out we had to call the assistant and ask her to let us out because she had not tried to help us. The assistant made no attempt to apologise to us but said instead that sometimes there just isn’t enough time for her to check every room and blamed the previous customer for leaving the clues in the wrong rooms. Terrible experience, would not recommend.

No. 1 *Worst* Escape Room experience
wrz 2018 • Pary
I've done *a lot* of Escape Rooms over the last few years - around 20 or so, here (in Melbourne), interstate and overseas, some have been brilliant, some have been OK, my experience with the Strike QV Escape Rooms has been the absolute pits. In January, we took some friends to do the Casino Heist Escape Room. Our friends had never done an Escape Room before, but they love puzzles and boardgames and we were all super excited because we'd been talking up the experience so much. We ended up so disappointed. There was no build up or atmosphere, the room wasn't set up properly, there were mistakes, doors were already unlocked that shouldn't have been unlocked, at one point, one of the staff members just opened the door, walked in and was like "oh - that's not right, that wasn't set up properly", which took us right out of the experience. I got a follow up email to ask how our experience was, so I told them. It was a total let down, we were so disappointed, our friends now think Escape Rooms suck. I ended up getting a call back and they were very apologetic, told us this 100% wasn't the norm and offered us some vouchers so we could come back and try again. OK, fair enough - everyone has an off night, we gave them the benefit of the doubt and vowed to go back for a second chance. We used some of the vouchers on Sunday night and had BY FAR the worst Escape Room experience we've ever had. This time we did The Red Manor Room, we were lead into the room without much instruction, the employee gave us a quick spiel while we were blindfolded, again, no atmosphere, but we were hoping the room would be a better experience. We couldn't have been more wrong. We were given an iPad to use to scan QR cards for clues if we got stuck - it didn't work because it was too dark in the room. "Oh well", we thought, let's try to do it all without clues. The puzzle itself was not intuitive and didn't follow any particular order, story or pattern, still "whatever", that's fine, sometimes that's the case. We got to 7 minutes left and thought maybe we should call for a clue, we wanted to get to the end after all. So I called on the phone we were given. No answer. I hung up and tried again *ring ring ring ring* no answer. I tried again again a few minutes later. No answer. The time ran out, still no answer. One of the friends we were with was like "Oh - the time's run out, I guess we have to stop" and I was like "Well, they haven't come to get us yet, let's keep trying". We solved another couple of clues. Still no word from the Strike employees. During this whole time we were moving back and forth between two rooms to put the clues together. At some point, we all moved into the second room and the door slammed behind us. It was locked. We couldn't get out. We hadn't solved the puzzles and we didn't know where the finish Exit was. We kept trying to solve (what we thought) was the final clue, to get us out of the room, but it made zero sense and we couldn't figure it out (may have needed something in the first room that we were now locked out of). Eventually, I was like, "this is enough, I want to get out of this room, I'm getting claustrophobic," but the door wouldn't open. And we didn't know where the exit was. I pushed the Emergency Exit button repeatedly. Nothing happened. I tried calling on the phone again. No answer. I waited a minute or two and tried to call again. No answer. Our phones had been confiscated when we went into the room, so we had no concept of time or way to contact anyone. I tried to call my Mum from the phone they gave us (the only number I know #sorrynotsorry), but the phone wouldn't let me dial out. By this point I was really starting to panic. My heart was beating like crazy, I didn't know what was going on outside the room. What if I was having a panic attack? What if I was hyperventilating? What if there'd been a fire? What if they're just going to leave us in here all night. Being *actually* trapped in a room is not what I signed up for. It is 100% illegal to lock people in a room that they can't get out of. It's dangerous, irresponsible and a fire hazard. I was about to try calling 000 and decided to give them one more chance. This time someone finally answered and came in to let us out. No apologies, just told us we'd done the first room wrong and that's why the door locked us in. Not a care in the world about the fact that they hadn't answered the phone for 20 minutes or so and just left us locked in a room with literally no way to contact the outside world. If I could zero stars I absolutely would. And this is *after* a second chance. This was not "one bad night".

Not the best place to visit for team building
lis 2017 • Biznesowy
Having our team building afternoon here was quite disappointing. We booked well in advance and was made to wait over 40 minutes before being escorted to the escape rooms. The room itself could use some updating. The clues were not great and one was broken so we wasted loads of time on that. The staff could be better with their enthusiasm and communication. Overall I wouldn't want to do it again.

Overall great room

We completed the Jail Break room recently and thoroughly enjoyed it. We've done over a dozen escape rooms before, so can't say it was the best, but it was very well themed, there was nothing in the room that broke the illusion of being in a real prison cell block. An unexpected jump scare got the heart pumping which always adds to the challenge of thinking straight, but I'd class this as a easy-moderate room for two people. Wouldn't want more than 2-3 people as it would probably be a quick solve. A good mix of locks, compartments, equations, and practical tasks.

Nothing to play with -- you only get to undo locks
gru 2016 • Znajomi
(12 January 2016 -- review posted on official Exitus at Strike QV facebook page) Our group did the Butcher's Room. The clues were very cryptic. Was incredibly disappointing because there was not much to interact with (no secret compartments to discover). The hints were basically useless as when we asked for them, we had already found the pieces of information required to solve the problem. Background music was intensely loud and grating on the ears, however they were effective in scaring the participants. Unfortunately the music had no frightening effect on me so I just got annoyed. Every problem required solving a lock....boring. If you're looking for a more realistic to life escape room, try this one. However I found myself and my team mates quickly growing bored and frustrated as we tried to solve the combination locks to little avail. Would have liked more to interact with - e.g. searching the walls for hidden doors, hidden tunnels, trap doors into the ground, hidden ladders, pulleys to open secret compartments, different sorts of puzzles, objects suddenly bursting down from the ceiling.

Hi Winona, we're sorry to hear about your experience back in January 2016. Hopefully we have improved upon these flaws with our new and improved escape room The Red Manor. We completely agree with you, rooms should be as challenging and creative as feasibly possible. Thanks for the review, Strike HQ.

A fun day out
wrz 2017 • Dla rodziny
We took 60 children (8-13 yr olds) and 25 adults to this venue and everyone had a wonderful time. The venue was clean and at 10am- we were almost the only ones there. The bowling lanes were well kept, there were bumpers for the kids to use. Staff were helpful and friendly. Had a great experience here- the kids really liked that it was 'underground' too!!

This escape room has lots of scary visual effects which makes it so much more intense and fun while trying to escape this room! The puzzles are very original and creative all the staff are super friendly and helpful and do a great job of setting the scene for this room, unfortunately we didn't escape but it was good to see at the end all the different puzzles we couldn't complete

By far the poorest of escape room experiences
lut 2017 • Pary
This is the third escape room we've tried - and by far the worst. Starting with being kept waiting for 40 minutes with no explanation or apology, to then being handed dirty, used blind-folds - one broken that had been tied back together and told to wear them. When I said I'm not wearing someone's used blind-fold, the young girl advised that as far as she new there was no health and safety issue about it. The room itself was fine, but run down - one of the final puzzles was clearly broken and impossible to solve without twisting and yanking (something we'd been told not to do). We were then quickly ushered from the room with no idea as to how we did. The girl became super surly after I complained. If you're going to do this company's escape room - the one at Melbourne Central is way better (and you get a print out at the end telling you how you did). Not a great way to spend your birthday. The venue is disappointing.
