Built in the 1500's by one of the sons of Gustav Vasa. Before it was burnt down it was used as penitentiary for about 2000 russian POW.

It would have been nice if it was possible to go inside but it was not possible. Yet this is a place you should stop by since it's very central is the history of Visingsö.

Interesting place and very pretty. It is basically a ruin that is left but still interesting. I wonder why Russian prisoners were kept here.

When the ferry aproaches Visingsö's pier, the castle ruins will get your attention. Nowadais only the outter structure is standing but it is still a nice ruin and an interesting visit to do.

This is a nice place to visit right next to the ferry. We didn't spend much time here since you have seen it all after ten minutes. Always interesting to learn some history and it's a good place for some nice photos.

Make sure to get a guide, we had Gunilla guide us and it made the ruins come to life! There is more in the stories than meets the eye!

The old ruin of Visingsborg has deteriorated over the years but it's still a majestic place to visit. If you're taking the ferry from Gränna it's very close and therefore definitely worth a visit.
