Il castello di Oriolo rimane arroccato su un sperone roccioso su cui prende vita anche il paese vecchio. Ben curato e poco sfruttato per le sue tante peculiarità . Vi si trova un museo dell’epoca e tante sale dove una volta si svolgeva la vita a palazzo. Bello davvero

La rocca sorge su uno sperone roccioso nella zona più alta del centro storico almeno oggi visitabile dalle 15 alle 20 oltre alla bellezza e magneficenza della vista esterna il castello almeno nelle zone di accesso e quelle fruibili al visitatore si presenta in ottime condizioni di recupero sono visibili praticamente 2 sale la prima dedicata ad una mostra di macchine medioevali delle torture con relative descrizioni di utilizzo la seconda sala è detta delle armi con esposte armature armi da fuoco e non in uso nel 17° e 18° secolo,unica pecca almeno nella giornata odierna non era possibile visitare la restante parte,un vero peccato visto il contenuto.La struttura è da far conoscere perché oltre che bella e interessante e tra le poche del sud Italia che potrebbe essere completata in maniera eccellente e per un formidabile percorso storico-architettonico di notevole valore e interesse.Comunque un plauso al comune di Oriolo per gli sforzi fatti negli ultimi anni ora è il tempo di raccogliere i frutti facendo conoscere al turismo una bellezza simile.

I depliant turistici lo danno visitabile fino al 16 settembre ma il 2 era chiuso con un bel cartello che indicava la chiusura dal 30 Agosto. E' sorprendente quanto poco vengano valorizzate e rese disponibili le ricchezze che abbiamo a disposizione. Voglia di lavorare saltami addosso. Fulgido esempio di capacità di attrarre i turisti tipicamente calabra.

Oriolo è annoverato tra i più bei borghi d’Italia, siamo andati per visitare il castello aragonese, ma chiudeva alle 12.30 e noi siamo arrivati quasi alle 13.
Avrebbe riaperto alle 15 ma non potevamo aspettare 2 ore, perchè poi avevamo altre tappe da fare prima di sera.
Abbiamo allora fatto il giro intorno al castello, imponente anche da fuori.
Singolare la collocazione dell'orologio, incastonato in alto su una torre.

Castello bellissimo centro storico molto bello e gente del posto molto cordiale da migliorare solo dalla parte politica gli orari e tenere più aperti Palazzo giannettasii e il Castello e secondo me andrebbe rivista la piazza sotto il Castello un colpo di occhio non all'altezza di un bel centro storico

per comprendere meglio il senso del titolo invito tutti coloro che l'hanno visto a pensare a questo borgo ed al suo castello invece che in provincia di Cosenza ad immaginarlo in provincia di Trento...forse si capirebbe meglio cosa volessi dire...

Oriolo un borgo medievale in provincia di Cosenza (Calabria ) , un borgo magico che racchiude millenni di storia e che lascia a bocca aperta tutti i turisti che arrivano in questo luogo.Tra stradine strette e i vicoli si possono scorgere i caratteristici segni del periodo medievale. Il borgo antico si eleva su uno sperone di arenaria cementata e massiccia. La visita del Castello è ricca di sorprese. Già dall'esterno si può ammirare l'imponenza della struttura che si trova nella parte alta del centro storico. La vista è favolosa da tutti i punti, soprattutto guardando il castello-fortezza dalla parte che mostra la torre dell'orologio.Altro monumento, simbolo del paese, è la chiesa Parrocchiale, situata nel mezzo della Piazza, un vero gioiello architettonico-costruttivo. Il borgo custodisce, poi, usi e costumi millenari. Le stradine e i vicoli del centro storico sono ricchi di testimonianze del passato, ed hanno la caratteristica composizione a ragnatela, tipica del periodo Medievale.

Purtroppo no, dopo i normanni sono passati in troppi. Il castello attuale è stato costruito sopra la vecchia costruzione medioevale e i successivi abitanti hanno sempre cambiato qualcosa ... ma è molto bello lo stesso.
