Yota is an amazing tour guide who really knows what she’s talking about. It was incredible to learn about the amazing history of the Neolithic sites near Volos from someone who has actually studied them and done excavations near them. She has a real insight into the Neolithic way of life and does a great job of tying it back to our current, modern way of life. I also really enjoyed her tour of the museum, which was dotted with items that she herself excavated! Where else do you get to have such a personalized connection to the archaeological record? She is also generous with her time, helping further plan my time in Greece and recommend restaurants. Highly recommend Yota for your Volos and Greece tours!

We had the good fortune to get with Yota and Ben, both Ph. D. archaeologists, for a half-day driving tour of four beautiful villages in the Pelion mountains outside of Volos, Greece. We started off with an entertaining and informative lunch at 6-Keys, looking across the bay at the mountain from which the Titans waged war on the gods on distant Mount Olympus. The first village, Milies, is the terminus of the local narrow-gauge tourist railway. We did not take up the offer of a walk down the tracks to the cave where Chiron the Centaur that tutored Jason, the Argonaut, had lived. We stopped for coffee and dessert on the main plaza and did some shopping. Our guides then wound us through the scenic mountain villages of Visitsa, Pinakates and Agios Georgios; stopping in each one to learn of its unique culture, architecture and history. Yota and Ben are very personable and extremely well versed in the culture, architecture, history and archaeology of both Greece and the Roman Empire

If you are going to do *one thing* in Volos, you should take a Pelion Culture tour.

Yota is an exceptionally storyteller and her guide to the city is smart, passionate and also full of humor. In particular, her work as an archeologist will reveal the astonishing layers of history -- thousands of years of it -- beneath the ground of the modern city.

This is one of the very best tours I have ever experienced in a city.

For our stay at Gatzea Villas we asked Pelion Culture to help us find family friendly beaches that would also accomodate us grandparents.
Their beach tour plan included Rivera, a nice area offering swimming along with nice bar areas and watersports equipment rental, 6
Keys, nice calm water and good food and drinks and a more remote beach across the hills at Potistika. The beach there is in a secluded cove and had surf, nice sunbeds and umbrellas for rent and a great restaurant bar combo (Climax) with great drinks and a French chef leading the restaurant.

I was very impressed by the knowledge that Ben Costello and Yota Pantou have about Athens through the ages. I had read several books before my tour with them but they added such depth and explained the prevailing trends that influenced the history. They made moments from 1300 BC through 1500 AD come alive with legend and history so conversational that it surprises me how much I took away and am still talking about today. Ben, the Roman PHD and Yota, the Greek PHD archeologists overlapped both their insights so they let me see different views of the places, structures and People involved.

Three highlights were the Acropolis Museum, an interesting architectural work in its own right, the Athens Agora, and the Temple of Hephaestus, In each place I was able to envision the evolving structures like a 3D video. The Pantheon dimensionally replicated in the Museum gives you a real grasp of just how big, how impressive and what detail this structure was in ways the real visit can no longer portray. And my excellent guides let me in on the magnificent secrets I would not have seen on my own or from my books. I highly recommend Pelion Culture and Ben and Yota for a tour worth coming to Athens for.

I am planning a 24-day trip to Greece this summer- July 2017, and have been working with Yota from Pelion Culture for the past few weeks. I was torn between going with a travel agent in the U.S. or going with a local company in Greece. I decided to go with Pelion Culture for a true authentic Greece experience. Yota has been working with me on planning this trip. Her suggestions and guidance on what to see, and how to get around have been on target. I have never traveled to Greece before and am looking forward to exploring all that Pelion Culture has suggested. Planning this trip with Yota has been a unique experience because I am working with a person who is both a Greek local, and an Archaeology PhD who has also lived in the U.S. Yota has given great recommendations and is willing to work with me with packages I have found elsewhere. I appreciate her honest advice regarding excursions that would and would not fit best into my personal goals for this trip. If you are looking for someone and/or a company to work with to plan your Greece vacation Pelion Culture is definitely the way to go.
