Nice and cozy
lip 2019
I found this church to be nice and warmly inviting inside, though the entrance was a little less so. The decoration inside is much more beautiful that what one perceives from outside. They have a small gift shop and I ended up parting with some euros in exchange for some keepsakes. Very nice.

A small chapel in the heart of Brussels
gru 2019
Eglise-de-la-Madeleine (The chapel of St. Mary Madeleine) is a small gothic church with a great baroque gate, it was once part of a convent founded in the 13th century by the Brothers of Mercymonks and destroyed in 1580 by the Calvinists. It was rebuilt in the 15th century in the late Brabant Gothic style. It is one of the oldest churches in Brussels. Given the many restorations and reconstructions, the building presents older elements and more recent ones, like the baroque portal from 1637 or the contemporary stained-glass windows. It was restored between 1957 and 1958 to its 15th century appearance. Allow ~ 30 min for your visit.

Quaint Church

This beautiful little chapel is easy to find and is worth taking the time to visit. Don’t expect anything majestic but that is what I like after seeing so many elaborate churches and cathedrals. Beautiful and humble.

Beautiful church.
maj 2019 • Znajomi
My twin brother Stephen and I had just jumped the train down from Antwerp and got off at Brussels Central Station and the first major structure that greeted us was the beautiful Eglise Sainte Marie Madeleine.
Established by the Brothers Of Mercy in the 13th century, it's one of Brussels oldest churches and is in fact built on the site of a much older church as restoration work carried out in the 1950's unveiled foundation walls constructed by the Knights Templars ,its a church that is a survivor, earmarked for demolition in the beginning of the 20th century as this area underwent massive regeneration, it was saved but lay abandoned until the 1950's when restored to its former glory.
The wonderful Baroque exterior is superb and the cute bell tower very photogenic, the interior is not spectacular, in fact it feels quite modern but its pleasing on the eye.
A beautiful church and if your in the area well worth checking out, easy to locate on Rue De La Madeleine and if your heading to Brussels Central Station well worth a visit.

Excellent modern stained glass

We kept passing this little church, so decided to look in. It is charming. Of particular note are the modern stained glass windows. Also the wall painting in the side chapel is unusual.

An interesting little church
gru 2018 • Dla rodziny
This small church is easily missed if you are not careful, but it's on the way to the "upper town" and we stumbled upon it by accident. It's quite a charming little place, too. Very picturesque. Don't miss it.

Little quiet church in a bustling city
gru 2018 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
Marie Magdalene chapel looks like an old church of a village or a small tow, even though it stands at a crossing of several busy streets and in the neighbourhood of the Central Railway station. It looks very old and historically it is, though it is much rebuilt since its original of the 13th century. Inside it is very serene and austere, with very little decoration. Nice place to have a moment of quiet.

Peaceful church
lip 2018 • Znajomi
We visited this simple calm church. Very simple and peaceful inside. A countertenor voice sang an office from the back of the church without any warning, and gave us a moving moment of contemplation. Lovely stained glass windows from the 50s.

Charming Intimate Church Just off of Gran Place in central Brussels
lut 2018 • Biznesowy
This Catholic church dates to the 13th and 15th Centuries, and was part of the convent of the Brothers Saccites. Stained glass dates to 1957 renovations. French bombardment in 1695 partly destroyed the structure.

This Church is calm and tranquil and peaceful. It is a great break from the hustle and bustle outside. There are votive candles for the faithful over at the side of the church inside. I found the church definitely worth a few minutes to walk around and take in. This church has a simple beauty and tranquility. Worth inviting some peace into your soul before stepping outside to the wonderful shops, restauarants, attractions, and even belgian waffles of Gran Place. I look forward to returning.

Located just outside Central Train Station,Saint Mary Magdalene Church is one of Brussels oldest churches and was established by the Brothers Of Mercy in the 13th century but the church is on the site of a much older religious site, restoration work carried out in the 1950's revealed foundation wall's built by the Knights Templars.

I love the Baroque style of architecture and the cute bell tower,on exiting Central Train Station it is a great site to see and looks amazing.
The church is found on Rue De La Madeleine and is well worth checking out
