Lit a candle for my 91 year old mom.

Lovely little harbor town.

The Saint Léonard church stands on the eponymous square, slightly elevated. The church bears the name of a hermit, Leonardo, who lived in the time of Clovis.

The current church was built in the 17th century on the ruins of the ancient sanctuary of the same name, destroyed during the Hundred Years War.
Its main portal, beautiful illustration of the flamboyant Gothic style, contrasts with its octagonal belfry Louis XV, decorated with musical instruments. The sculpted portal, the clock dial, the bell tower, testifies medieval art.
An eighteenth century lectern that you can admire inside the church is listed as a historical monument. .
An armchair of the bishop was bequeathed by Monsignor Suhard, bishop of Bayeux-Lisieux.
A splendid organ is planted in this church.
The visit of its interior is worth a look, if only for its stained glass windows and its frescoes. Also to see the fountains and a wash house dating from the 15th century, very close to the church.,,For lovers of architecture.

This Church is not in the prime tourist area, so many visitors simply don't know about it and skip it.
That would be also the case with us if we found the parking closer to the center.
The Church is some 10-15 min walk from the Vieux Basin old harbor. It's a 15c reconstructed edifice after the 100y war destruction.

This is probably not as well known as St Catherine's, but it is an interesting church to visit. There are beautiful frescos on the walls and the painted ceilings are amazing. The tiles in the nave have been worn by years of use.

If you intend to come to Honfleur only to see this church - forget it .But if you are already strolling in the historic center area - do take the extra 15 minutes to visit this church and enjoy the two lovely squares on both sides of the church (one of them with the big willow tree ) .
Have a charming stay in Honfleur .

This is a "must-see" if in Honfleur. A very serene and attractive early medieval interior, with a fantastically carved west portal.

Eglise St Leonard is well worth a visit. It is not one of the prettiest churches you will find but it has a more "friendlier" feel than some.

This is a beautiful old church a few blocks away from the harbor in Honfleur. She's been damaged and burnt over the years, and shows her scars, but she is a survivor and worth the short walk for a visit.

I visited this church as part of our general visit to Honfleur. It has less visitors than the cathedral but it is worth walking a bit further to have a look.
