Great exhibition, rammed quite literally floor to ceiling! Well worth a visit. It’s all in French as can be expected, but there are smart phone countermeasures, which will translate the text for you if you can’t work it out (I can’t read or speak French, but can decipher the majority of the text).
Take a packed lunch and it’s well priced for entry, with lovely, very helpful English speaking staff.

Well priced and really interesting!
Staff were really friendly and helpful (spoke good English).
The displays were really good, informative and interesting, and it's a nice change from art museums.
However the descriptions are mostly in French exclusively, with some plaques showing English and Spanish. Luckily I speak (enough) French to understand it, but if you don't I believe there's an app, but you'll have to consult other reviews about that.
Went just after lunch, so it was fairly quiet, however got busy later on in the afternoon. I also only viewed the permanent exhibition, there was an option to view a temporary one about mummies I believe.
Afterwards I sat down at the café and had a lovely coffee and some cake.

People love this museum, and I've been a handful of times, since I live in Toulouse and have a little kid. Honestly, though, I don't think the permanent collection is that great, though they have interesting exhibitions sometimes . There are lots of stuffed dead animals, which is fine but not thrilling. The interior is very dark. I do really like the restaurant and the surrounding park is the best.

As always, this Museum of Natural History offers a wonderful experience both for adults, teenagers and kids. Following a thorough renovation a couple of years ago, this one is particularly interesting. You learn a lot about the Earth and Universe, plants and animals. It’s educative and a lot of fun.
Moreover most of temporary exhibitions are very interesting as “Extinctions”, a great way back in history to understand how why and how species disappeared in the past or may disappear in the future.

Last week we visited the jardin des plantes but found it rather dull. However the visit was redeemed by our discovery of the botanic garden. We found this area by chance, not having seen any signs directing us there. at the edge of the main park there are greenhouses and looking for access to these we found an entrance from the street which leads to the greenhouses and to a small landscaped and planted area.We felt it was not fully established yet but think it worthwhile for plant enthusiasts

Our kids are 8 and 10 and they both had a great time. A favourite area was the living Earth area on earthquakes, volcanoes, and continental drift. They also enjoyed some of the games throughout. We easily spent over 1/2 here and we're not sorry we visited it.

Easy to get to using the metro to Palais de Justice, entry is free on the first Sunday of each month, so no reason not to go. So much to see over 3 floors, so you need most of the day to do it justice. Amazing displays of animal life, and good interactive displays about the creation and workings of the earth. Restuarant inside and access to the gardens from inside is easy. Easy layout to wander round for some fresh air, but the plants would be better in the spring, try and visit the glasshouses to view the more unusual plants on show.

they had too much money and too many consultants, and ended up with a mish-mash - confused, incoherent, too much theming and not enough information. Pity, the building and the gardens are attractive, but the multi-sensory approach (static displays, info. screens, video reveals etc.) are completely at odds with the building and its context (within the 18/19th C. university area) and mission - natural history. Add to that that you can't access the 2 cafes without leaving the museum, that the signage is dreadful, and that there is no English language support of any kind. A great shame ...

Very good entertainment for a family with small kids. The museum fee includes a visit to the botanical garden as well. The garden is not too big, but nice, they have sections like herbal plants, carnivorous plants, tropical area etc.. The museum itself is big, if I am not mistaken 3 floors with many permanent exhibitions. It was interesting for my 8-year-old (skeletons, fossils, planets…) and my 2-year-old was also entertained with many built-in screens and window boxes built into the floor (screen showing random animals, or the scenes looking like a river or lava, etc.) and both of them enjoyed the interactive stuff (listening to different animal sounds, little games, touching some things.)
You can easily spend a couple hours here, it is stroller-friendly (although I believe a sign said that the temporary shows cannot be visited with it). The signs were unfortunately only in French.
The park where it is situated is great with a nice big playground.

The local tourist office claims that the Toulouse Museum is one of the best in France , - it is certainly very impressive - well laid out , well maintained exhibits ( some of them dating back to the 1870’s ) , not too crowded ( even on “ free Sunday “ ) , only real criticism is that most the explanations are in French , so you probably miss out unless you know a bit about natural history , or speak rudimentary French .
