Simple Elegance
lip 2019
This fine elegant church building was inaccessible the day of our visit for some unknown police blockade activity. But seeing it from a distance was nice.

Built for Prussians who were Lutherans
maj 2019 • Pary
At first sight, the Church of St. Paul looks like a medieval Gothic church with its twin filigree spires, pointy arches, and large rose window at the front of the building. This church, however, was built in the late 1800s by Germany when they occupied Strasbourg following their victory in the Franco-Prussian war. It was conveniently built just a few blocks away from their new German government offices in their new city block called Kaiserplatz (Place de la Republique) . German military stationed in Strasbourg used this church as well as the Kaiser when he was in the city. It was a Lutheran church and remains a Protestant church today.

The design of the rose window over the central entry door may look familiar to those who have visited St. Thomas church near La Petite France. What is unique about the exterior design of this church is its 5 doors at the front of the building. These doors accommodated the various ranks of military and the Emperor. The inside of this church is incomparable to the interior of St. Thomas Church, also a Lutheran church, but built in different time periods. Visit this church rather than St. Thomas to see how a Protestant church differs from the Catholic Cathedral Notre Dame.

Incorporate with a Nuestadt walking tour
maj 2019 • Pary
This church with its wonderful working clocks on the steeples is just metres from the Avenue de la Liberte, with the Universite at one end and the German Emperors Palace on Place de la Republique at the other. Get a map and walking guide from the Tourist Office in Cathedral Square to fully enjoy and understand what you are walking passed.

Church tour in Strasbourg
mar 2019 • Znajomi
A really nice example of Romanesque and Gothic architectural improvements. The interior was typical of that of many cathedrals but the artistry was very good.

Beautiful church
lut 2019 • Pary
This church stands at the junction of two canals and is best seen from one of the river cruise boats. Dating from 1897, it is built in the Gothic Revival style and has a very impressive appearance with twin towers at the west end. Because we were on a cruise boat we didn't have the opportunity to see inside, but the outside is worth seeing on its own.

Gothic Revival excellence
wrz 2018 • Znajomi
Not to far from the city centre and main tourist attractions, just only about 1300 metres from Place Kleber, you can find a magnificent example of the Gothic Revival style in sacred architecture.
The church, which was erected in 1897 and dedicated to Saint Paul, was designed for the Lutheran members of the Imperial German garrison stationed in Strasbourg. After 1919, when Alsace was returned to France, the church was handed over to the Protestant Reformed Church of Alsace and Lorraine.
Recommended.

The church everyone forgets
paź 2018
If you have never been to Europe then Strasbourg will make your brain explode because of all the remarkable sights and history. The problem is, the sites and history are so mind boggingly remarkable thst even magnificent, majestic churches like St Paul - which in any other context would make your brain explode - are too easily overshadowed. So, come to Strasbourg, enjoy Day 1, and long about Day 2 or Day 3 head to this church and enjoy the majestic ambiance in a part of town relatively relaxed and devoid of tourists.

Beautiful exterior
lis 2018 • Znajomi
We were not able to visit the inside of the church, but the church is a wonderful example of gothic architecture. While a bit smaller than some of its famous counterparts, this church still has wonderful features and a prominence that is striking.

Not on the tourist path

This church is a little outside from the usual tourist traps. But it is wonderful, worth to see and visit it. Very close to the Place Republique.
