Watford Council NOT transparent in parking in and around Cassiobury Park
kwi 2021
Very disappointed.
Be warned there is no parking around the park. Came back to my car to find a yellow parking ticket. There are no signs or parking bays to suggest parking along the road would attract a parking ticket.
The parking warden had issued tickets to every other car!!!!!!!

Of course this will be nightmare to try to dispute knowing the local council.

Very disappointing that the Council are pursuing this tactic to rise money.

The Council need to be open and transparent with their new parking

Great park for a winter stroll
sty 2021
This large park is a great asset for for the town. It is popular for families taking a stroll and dog walkers, but can be enjoyed by anyone. The last reviewer notes it is like something from the movies - that is because it HAS been in the movies including Star Wars films as well as several TV series. The park starts at the town centre and at its western end, borders open countryside. The land used to be the landscape park of the earls of Essex. The grand house and almost all of the buildings are long gone. But the parkland benefits from many fine trees planted in Victorian times. These old trees are very popular with birds, so keep a look out for some more unusual sightings including nuthatch and woodpeckers.

The River Gade passes through the park and the former watercress beds have been turned into a wildlife and natural area. With all of the heavy rainfall, the paths that criss cross the nature reserve are very wet or under water (including the bird hide). The paths around the edge of the wildlife reserve are fine and provide a good opportunity to see common and more unusual birds. We were lucky on our visit to see several more unusual birds including grey wagtails, little grebe and goldcrest.

It takes an hour or so to walk around the park. To make a longer day out, a walk can be extended into the adjacent Whippendell Woods. Alternatively it can be extended with a walk along the Grand Union Canal - either towards Croxley or North towards the Grove Hotel.

There are take away refreshments served in the Park near the paddling pool play area. There are also toilets and disabled toilets which are open. There is clear signage with maps to show where you are. There are also some interesting information boards to tell you more about the history and wildlife. At the Rustic bridge is a very effective clear board so you can look through the exact same view and see where the old mill building once stood. The park is well managed and despite the pressures over the past year very little litter and signs of wear.

Cassiobury Park is a lovely large space on the edge of Watford with plenty of parking, open green areas, canal, river and wooded walks. With tennis courts, a band stand, miniature railway as well as the lovely dog friendly Cha Cafe it is well worth a visit

Wonderful park in all seasons
wrz 2020 • Pary
Cassiobury park is such a lovely space, perfect for a dog walk, picnic, bike ride or play date with excellent children’s play equipment, two cafes, public toilets and plenty of open space. Wonderful in all seasons with open field and plenty of paved/tarmaced paths for the winter.

Nice stroll
paź 2020 • Dla rodziny
We visited the park for a stroll during a stay nearby and found it a nice place to visit. Its really big with plenty of walking routes. The cafe and toilets were open as was the play area. There seemed to be a good water area for use in summer too. Lots of parking, first 2hrs free, charges apply after.

Fantastic for dogs!
lip 2020
I've visited Cassiobury Park twice now - once in the summer and once in autumn. Both visits were wonderful! The parking is effortless (mobile app), the grounds themselves are kept very clean and free of litter. There are dozens of perfect spots for the dogs to take a dip into clean water. Overall, I would highly recommend this park and will be visiting again!
