Was here today with the lovely Ursula.

Spectacular, unspoilt beautiful part of Europe. It’s one of the most westerly points of the continent. You can drive, cycle or walk right out to the lighthouse.

Behind it is an amazing stretch of land to open cliffs with sheer drops for about 100 metres with no barriers, very very dangerous but exciting as heck!

I highly recommend it.

Nice Drive There And Very Exposed
mar 2020
Whilst the lighthouse is a little disappointing, the area on both sides of the promontery is rugged and impressive. One shows wild ocean waves and the other is a little more rocky. Be careful at both and the winds can be very fierce and there is nothing to protect you from being blown over the cliff edge. Visually spectacular and very atmospheric

Sparkling Gem of Ireland
wrz 2019
As an expat, I was able to visit Loophead over 20 times in three years - and I took ALL my guests to this hidden gem. Worth the extra effort to drive to the lighthouse - great cliff views without the weight of commercialism. Loop Head became my favorite place in Ireland - you can spend a half hour or several hours walking the paths and photographing nature at its best. Wear shoes that don't slip.

One of our favourite places in Ireland
wrz 2019
We love the Loop Head Peninsula. We now have friends in Kilbaha, at the Kilbaha Gallery and Crafts shop. Loop Head Peninsula is far enough south on the west of Ireland to have good weather, when it is more windy and rainy in the north. Killkee is a nice small town, and the Bridges of Ross are a great place to visit, rivaling the Cliffs of Moher for great views. Pace of life is slower and there are views everywhere along the coastline. It is an area I would consider living in.

Wonderful views, great staff. Walk around the lighthouse and then climb up. Gives a sense of what it might have been like to work there

Stunning and mythical landscapes on the Wild Atlantic Way
lut 2019
The Loop Head Peninsula is rated as one of the Best Places to holiday in Ireland, deservedly so if this visit was anything to go by. My cousin lives in the beautiful coastal town of Kilkee, and kindly drove us around the peninsula. Although it was February, we were blessed with unseasonably mild weather of 17C, and the roads were fairly deserted at that time of year, not many tourists. We were based in the somewhat overdeveloped town of Ennis, and, by contrast, the countryside around Loop Head reminded me of the bucolic scenery I had experienced as a child on Summer holidays. We started off in Carrigaholt where the Shannon meets the Atlantic, proceeding on to Kilbaha, which is famed for the Little Ark (a historic portable altar to celebrate mass) housed in the nearby Star of the Sea church - this is definitely worth a look. We then continued the Loop by visiting the Lighthouse, the most western point featuring a mythical sea stack known as the Lover's Leap. It is quite breathtaking. Heading back to Kilkee on the stunning Wild Atlantic Way, you pass the Bridges of Ross rock formations which is another good place to have a stretch, although note only one of the stone arches still exists, the other two have disintegrated into the sea. The drive back to Kilkee is spectacular, we didn't have time to explore Kilkee itself, the main attractions being the Pollock Hole rockpool formations, the beach and the Cliffs. However, we did have a pub lunch there, the portions were very generous and I recall the food was really excellent, I'm fairly sure this was Hickie's Bar. This area generally seems to have attracted a number of artists, we did visit the Ross Art Studio on the day and they were happy to chat and let us have a browse. We felt really invigorated by our day in Loop Head, the rugged and beautiful coastal landscape will live long in our memories. Fantastic place.

Scenic drive
sie 2019 • Pary
The loop head drive is a very scenic coastal drive along the Wild Atlantic Way. The roads here are much quieter and there are plenty of places to pull in. Get out and take plenty of photos of the amazing scenery it’s breath taking.

Loop Head is at the end of a peninsula at the mouth of the river Shannon in Co. Clare. We visited there by car on a fine day at the end of July 2019. There is a lighthouse you can climb up to the balcony near the top and walk around. There are amazing views from there on a fine day, and there is a little visitor centre. But the best thing to do is to walk along the path to the right of the lighthouse and follow it down to cliffs and the little outcrop rock with lots of myths associated with it and full of seabirds. There is a path all the way round the lighthouse, which makes a very enjoyable walk. A couple of things to note: the road there is narrow once you leave Kilbaha and you can meet tractors, farm animals etc so take your time and check the weather just before you go.

Super spot to explore
cze 2019 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
I visited loop Head recenlty on a road. The day was smashing and when I arrived I decided to walk around the peninsula first to soak up the view.. I then decided to head in to the light house.. There is a 5e entry and it was well worth it.. Although its only small inside u do get to climb the 74 steps to the top of the light house.. I was met by a very friendly guide Lawrence.. He pointed out what we could see in the distance from kerry on one side to Galway on the other.. Lawrence was full off facts about the light house and was happy to ans any of my questions.. Was delighted to paid the 5e to enter..

Visiting Loop Head Lighthouse
kwi 2019 • Pary
Spectacular views. We visited 1 day after Storm Hanna. Winds were still strong. Tip to intending travellers. Check weather before setting out. As they close the lighthouse during bad weather.
