Stunning

A bucket item ticked off here and was not disappointed. Was surprised that you could walk the course freely as long as it didn't interfere with the golf then all was good. Has the obliquetry photo taken on the bridge. It was a calm day the day we were there and it just seemed so serene. A trip to the gift shop for a few souvenirs also a requirement.

A golf club for the well to do
wrz 2019 • Pary
Everything about this reeks of privilege including the name Royal and Ancient.
A golf tournament was to start 2 days after our visit and everything was set up including stands etc.

The town is historic and of more interest than the golf course.

The Home of Golf

Not many of us will have the chance to play a round at St. Andrews, but you can tour part of the course and clubhouse. You are able to see the 1st tee and the 18th hole on the tour and of course get your picture taken on "the bridge". It is not a bad tour even in the rain.

For golfing tragics
cze 2019
If you are a golfer and you are anywhere near the area (or make a specific trip), you have to stop at the course, even if not playing. Plenty of car parking next door (at a fee), you are able to walk the 1st and the 18th, parallel fairways and across the fairways, being on public land. As there are plenty of players on the course, marshalls do manage/control the crossings.
There are a couple of golf shops behind and beside the 18th and whilst not cheap, perhaps as a golfer, you just have to buy something. Plenty of photo opportunities as well, but no access to the clubhouse.

A Golfer's Dream Come True!
cze 2019 • Dla rodziny
My daughter is a big golfer and this was her dream to come to St. Andrews. We weren't there long enough for her to play a round, but she had her photo taken on "the bridge", and was able to walk around and see some of the course. She was in heaven.

Single player Same Day lottery worked!
cze 2019 • Pary
We arrived at Saint Andrews at 4:45 AM and my husband was number six in line that day. It was a rainy day so there were several cancellations and he was able to get on the course at 6:30 AM. The day before there had been 19 people in line that morning to play as a single player. So if you don’t make the lotteries it is still worth showing up and trying to get on to play. Just know that you need to get there early and wait for the clubhouse to open at 6:00 AM. My husband engaged a caddy for the day and it made the overall experience very special. He rented clubs and shoes that morning at the clubhouse. I was able to walk the course with him until I decided to sit in the clubhouse and wait for him to finish the second half of the course.

People come to Scotland to play the old course at St. Andrews and now I know why. We played it in intermittent rain and wind. And it still was a treat. Playing over the corner of the old hotel is a treat. Seeing all the holes from Open’s past was fun. It really is not a severely hard course in general but when you add the rain and the wind, that is where the course gets its reputation. I got to play several courses in Scotland on this trip and obviously this is one not to miss.

THE Home of GOLF ... a must MUST visit.
maj 2019 • Znajomi
The course, the history, the village ... this must be on any golfers bucket list. I love this course ... the two abreast fairways, double greens, the caddies, ugg the bunkers, and my very favorite ... the 17th hole. Hit it over the building, but just miss the hotel and your drive will be long and in the fairway. Make sure you have time to visit the clubhouse and shops and the museum... take it all in. And check out the village.

Also, you MUST play their putting green ... the Himalayas, I believe.
