sty 2020
What a great day out. A beautiful location with superb walks and excellent opportunities for picnics in lovely surroundings. With the added benefit of an excellen open air history with fantasticnal buildings from all across Wales. A wonderfu;l, new indoor museum with a good restaurant/cafe. What more do you need!

Alternative museum experience

You can easily spend all day here. There are lots of different types of buildings, not just houses and the area is well laid out and sign posted.
The indoor exhibition is interesting too.
Several places to buy refreshments and toilets dotted about. Easy to picnic too.
Fun for kids and you can see as much or as little as you like, there is no particular route to take.
Free entry but £5 to park the car all day. Don't arrive too late on a busy day if you want/need to park near the entrance.
My only criticism is that some of the farm cottages are kept so dark inside that it is difficult to view them properly. Also there could be more information about some of the artefacts in the buildings. The row of terraced cottages through the ages could be really interesting with dates and labels.

Day out at St Fagans
sie 2019 • Znajomi
Thoroughly enjoyed our day out here. The weather helped! New galleries excellent as are the new outdoor buildings. One downside was the restaurant had stopped serving any hot food by 3pm (only drinks +sandwiches). We went over to the Plymouth Arms and had a nice meal there.
Note: if you're thinking of going to pub anyway you can park there and walk in to St Fagans. Saves on the car park fee!!

One of my favourite places to visit ever

You will find me walking around St Fagans at least once a week, I love the community here: the staff, the Bakery, the gardeners and the volunteers everyone is so friendly. So nice to be recognised and feel like you belong. I love all the formal gardens, the wild areas, the beautiful woodlands and huge beech trees. Because St Fagans outdoor space is so big you can find yourself walking quietly on your own. There is a huge bird community living here also- see if you can spot the kingfisher, the herron and the nuthatch!

Lovely day out, but if you have problems walking, I don,t think it,s the place for you, but you can take you time and there is plenty of seats to sit down, there's a long way between all the places to see, going back to see other part this year, because too tired last time,

Absolutely love it. Beautiful walks and views.
Summer or winter, lovely place. I just suggest you get some very robust walking boots, there are aggressive some thorns laying around.

Changes not working
lis 2018 • Znajomi
Having been a visitor for many years, I was looking forward to the "exciting new changes"! Apparently, millions have been spent on the revamp. Naively I thought the "changes" would be for the better - I was wrong! The reception area is a huge, bland, empty, unwelcoming area more akin to an airport waiting area but without the shops and less interesting. The galleries have been replaced with less exhibits, and are far less interesting, the friends I took with me kept saying "is this it"? The climbing frame dominates the little church and surrounding area and looks COMPLETELY out of place. For a museum that prides itself on concentrating on everything Welsh, almost to the point of obsession, what on earth is that monstrosity to do with "All things Welsh"?

My visitors asked to leave after a short while as they (and I) were very disappointed with the "exciting new changes". I shall not bring friends or visitors to visit again, I would be too embarrassed. Such a shame to spoil this Welsh asset.
