Best Sunday Lunch
lis 2020 • Pary
Went for Sunday Lunch 29th November. Advised on booking to bring Id with name and address. On entry hand sanitizer easy to locate then details & Id shown and taken to our table. Tables and screens well spaced out. Masks had to be worn until seated but standard everywhere now. Waitress very attentive and advised of their special offer on drinks. Menus on table and 3 courses very reasonable. Waitress took orders and everything came to table. Very handy as pre covid the mains choice would be carved meats and then help yourself. Food very tasty and hot. Everyone enjoyed and will go back soon. Thank you for making our meal out enjoyable.

Afternoon tea at Llancaich Fawr Manor
lip 2020 • Dla rodziny
My family included myself young son of 9 and elderly mum on our day of our visit. I had reserved a cream tea for us all. I was aware no dogs were permitted but had a dachshund and waited with him in the car park while my mum and son went ahead. Walking and taking photos a member of staff enquired had I made a reservation for afternoon tea I confirmed so but said I had a dog and would be along for the tea when my son would finish. The staff member was very congenial and said as long as it was a short lead and aware that I was responsible I could go through to the gardens area for tea. I felt very grateful as this was not normally their policy and felt very grateful for their outstanding hospitality. The gardens had a small maze of hedges and socially distanced bistro style tables and chairs. Another party were at the opposite end of the gardens. The teas, coffee and plated crustless sandwiches cakes and fancies were superb. Warm scones ensured heavenly cream and jam melting on the tongue. Highly recommended.

This manor was excellent to visit with the characters making it a fantastic experience

Enjoyed this tour of an evening when the characters made it all so very real and intriguing. The manor is amazing kept up to the highest standards. The ideas behind the way this tour is portrayed is just brilliant taking you back in time. So enjoyed this experience would recommend it to other groups and individuals to pay a visit to this venue.

Excellent attraction.

There was a friendly welcome when I walked in. I was warned that a primary school group had arrived, so it might be a good idea to go straight through to the house, rather than have a look at the museum first. Good advice. The children were well behaved and it's nice to see the youngsters getting immersed in the history of the place but as there were a lot of them it could have detracted from the experience. I was a bit apprehensive about the guides acting in historical character as I thought it might make me cringe a bit, particularly as I was the only person in the house for most of the time. I needn't have worried. They kept in character, yet didn't overdo it. The guides were extremely knowledgeable and were very good at balancing my 21st century questions with their 17th century answers. They brought the place to life and made it a very interesting visit. Some reviewers have commented that the price is too high. I only had to pay for myself but I didn't think so. I've been to a lot of attractions in South Wales that are more expensive and not any more value for money. The gift shop is a bit pricey but no more so than other, similar gift shops and the items seem like good quality. I didn't go in the restaurant. I would definitely recommend Llancaiach Fawr.

Beyond Fantasic!!

My husband and so visited here this morning as we'd never been but heard great things about it. We had the loveliest and warmest welcome from the lady at reception who explained that we would first walk through the exhibition and then she would happily take us up to the manor house; and that this was a living museum so all the staff were period acting and full of knowledge! The exhibition was really good, full of interesting facts and artefacts all laid out well. We had a take away coffee from the cafe next, really reasonably priced and although we didn't eat there the menu choice is varied and good value for money. We drank then made our way up to the Manor, where we were once again warmly greeted by the first of 4 wonderful staff, their dialect, costumes and manner befitting of 1645 staff. We spent time in the kitchens, and the staff quarters with a lovely lady who told us all about life in the kitchens, the foods and the apothecary upstairs as she led us around the rooms....she really went out of her way to delight and inform us about how life was and constantly referred to me as 'my lady'.....I felt very noble indeed. We then ventured upstairs to the grand hall where the same greeter from the entrance was waiting to enthrall and delight us with stories and facts about the chambers linked to the family and the multi uses of the day. We then walked through to more bedrooms and met another chap who was equally knowledgeable about the armoury, the specially designed stair case and all while we were able to touch and interact with the exhibits. The staff here really go out of their way to ensure that your experience is as authentic as it would have been back in the 17th Century; absolutely fantastic and we can't wait to return with our children, they'll love it too.

Brilliant tour from super knowledgeable (and witty) servant-guides
gru 2019
The costumed-guides were top notch. Didn't expect them to be so entertaining, both in the delivery of the historical content and finely tuned wit. Wouldn't hesitate to go again.

You won’t be disappointed.

My partner and I visited Llancaiach Fawr for a day out. We have visited a number of other such places just like this including National Trust properties but this little place was a real gem and outstanding. Parking was very good but the local authority signage leading to the site was a little lacking in places especially if you weren’t conversant with the area. The Manor had a lively gift shop, the staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The Manor has a restaurant with the usual sandwiches, beverages and hot food at reasonable prices. We had a homemade steak and kidney pie but it was too salty but otherwise all good. The museum is really outstanding with excellent visual illustrations and historic artefacts on display in both English and Welsh. The entry fee to the Manor is about the going rate for such a place with a guide dressed in period costume to take you around the Manor which is optional but recommended. You won’t be disappointed it’s a great day out for all the family. One not to be missed.

My boyfriend and I revisited llanciach fawr manor on 13/11 after both going as children. We knew it wasn't a big place and therefore we assumed we wouldn't be there long... how wrong we were. We ended up being there much longer looking at all the information in the museum before even getting to the house. When we then got to the house the actors just made the whole experience! They were so knowledgable, faultlessly stayed in character but we had such a laugh with all 3 of them. Thank you very much to all 3 - you really were fab!
