Such a shame it’s not better maintained!!
paź 2020 • Pary
Visited yesterday having googled things to do near Caernarfon. Council run property. Some lovely walks through what is described as “ historic woodland” but sadly very poorly maintained. House is surrounded by a metal fence with overgrown grounds , broken statues and a plethora of “bric a brac” which just appears to have been abandoned outside the house. Why is a scale there??? There is a beautiful fountain which is overgrown and full of sediment which is sad to see. There is a lovely slate amphitheatre which could be made more of. Given that there is an entrance fee to pay to access the park I would have expected that is was used to enhance what could be a beautiful park! Shane the council don’t appear to appreciate what they have.

Shame on the Gwynedd Council
wrz 2020 • Pary
What a beautiful place so full of history , nature and art however the Council have just left it to become an overgrown forgotten wilderness. The fountains and architecture have been left and become so overgrown you cannot see the detail any more or they are in disrepair, cannot believe the Council are not being held responsible for this !!! Shame on Gwynedd Council !!!

Charming - a good find
wrz 2020 • Pary
We have driven past this place, and been impressed with the scale of the estate as indicated by the outside walls. This time we visited, and were very glad that we did.

The gardens and woodland are extensive, and somewhat unkempt, which gives them a faded charm. It is remarkably easy to get away from other people, and we found that by judicious use of the map we could see every inch of the paths in a full afternoon. The architectural follies are not really our thing, but added to the character overall.

The house is looking sad, and is fenced off with ugly metal panels, but this is not the fault of the country park. It does not detract from what is a very enjoyable visit. Highly recommended.

What a great place to visit!
lut 2020
We discovered this place by accident and wow it is great. We parked up and entered the cafe where we were greeted by a lovely polite and helpful young lady and later met the cook who was equally nice. The cafe is dog friendly and both made a fuss of our schnauzer who loved it. Our meal was excellent and ideal before a decent walk exploring the grounds. Unfortunately the steam engine wasn't running on the day of our visit, so we will definitely be back perhaps at Easter.

Beautiful Parc
sie 2019 • Dla rodziny
We visited yesterday with our 4 year old son and spent most of our visit walking through the beautiful woodland searching for the follies and fountain and other buildings. The tree trail kept him excited through the walk. We were greeted by a very friendly and helpful lady in the gift shop (really sorry we didn’t get her name) who took the time to chat to our son about his interests (the steam engine being one). That side of our visit was amazing. The cafe was disappointing and took over an hour to serve food despite not being that busy. We will definitely visit the Parc again and hope to see the private house without scaffolding.

The cafe and mansion are both privately owned and so are beyond our control. Very glad you enjoyed our visit though! X

Lovely walk, disappointing food.
sie 2019
Had a lovely walk around the grounds of Glynllifon. Unfortunately the Black Cat Cafe served us overpriced, disappointing food. The salad was brown, the tortillas equalled about four 'crisps'. The food was very like something you could 'knock-up' in the kitchen yourself in about two minutes and was punching well above its weight - price wise. The setting of the cafe is lovely, but lesson learned - next time, skip the food section of the menu and straight to the coffee and cake!

Price increased

This used to be one of my favourite places for lunch. However add-ons £3 per dish onto last year's prices is a joke..... won't be visiting again, such a shame....

I think you are mistaking this page for independently-run Black Cat Cafe? The admission prices for Parc Glynllifon have not increased for many years.

A wonderful historic garden
sie 2019 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
I’ve lived in the area for over 40 years, but this was my first visit to the gardens. I’d never realised that there was so much to see beyond the cafe, craft workshops and gift shop.
These extensive gardens surrounding a decaying mansion were wonderful and cheap to visit. They are run by the local council. There’s wooded gardens meandering on both sides of a small stream. There are several surprises along the path, including some recently planted trees, sculptures and a pet cemetery. The signs at the entrance off the main Caernarfon to Porthmadog road do not convey the importance of the gardens. This meant that, on a sunny summer day, there were only a few people around when other tourist attractions nearby were very busy.
Having read other reviews I’m glad the NT is not running the site, however there is so much potential. The gardens are somewhat overgrown but the paths are clear. Perhaps students from the nearby college could do some practical work there, or a group of local volunteers could help improve the paths and get rid of the invading Himalayan balsam.
The gift shop has a lot of local produce. It’s great to find many Welsh items. It would be even better to have translations and bilingual gifts too.
The mansion is a grade 1 listed building in private ownership, but unfortunately restorations to create a hotel appear to have come to a halt. The view of the house surrounded by scaffolding and security fences is indeed sad. However, don’t let that put you off visiting the gardens.

A good varied visit with plenty on offer .

We usually call here on our annual Welsh visit .Lovely grounds and a very good cafe .Nice food and very friendly .
We also have bought lots of things from the craft shop over the years but it seems to have succumbed to the Nationalist trends in the Uk .Yes have lots of Welsh language items but where are the cards in English etc . It is a tourist attraction not an advert for the Welsh language society .

Having lived in Gwynedd for 7 years I had only ever visited here when there was a craft festival, we as a family of 4 and Sherlock our Staffordshire bull terrier decided to visit for a walk. We paid the £10 family ticket, however could easily have gone without paying! The grounds are beautiful with many exotic types of trees and shrubs! We loved the peacefulness and the interesting little buildings/statues and ruins, Sherlock was entertained with lots to sniff out!! We also visited the cafe which is reasonably priced for the area xx well worth a visit, would love to nosey in the plas if it ever gets opened again x

Thanks so much for paying! People refusing or sneaking in without contributing is such a problem for us. Your entry fee pays the warden’s wages and is the income to secure the parc’s future. Diolch!
