A Bit Overhyped on the Website
gru 2020 • Dla rodziny
We're from Cardiff and exploring the area and thought this looked exactly what we needed to entertain two young boys and a very hyperactive dog.

The walk from town is long, steep and alongside a rather busy road with cars charging up the hill. It's quite scary in times and not the best start.

We downloaded the app, although the detail and navigation meant it was easier just to walk about and explore.

The best part is a flight of stairs and a view over a golf course at the top. We were continuously aware of the road with very loud traffic noise as the 50mph limit means cars are accelerating continuously and the traffic noise is constant.

We left via the golf course entrance and walked back down the road, which was very scary.

Our advice is for families to park up at the golf course and stay away from that crazy road. Although there are so many better maintained and exciting attractions for children in the area.

Fabulous countryside views and interesting tour
wrz 2020
We had a free guided tour as part of the Heritage Open Weekend.
Once our tour guide introduced himself to us after we had wandered around one of the many golf club car parks looking lost he took us along some beautiful tree lined paths with fabulous views of the surrounding countryside.
Our guide was very friendly, full of relevant facts and made the tour very interesting indeed.
Getting to see inside the mausoleum was an added bonus, albeit in a small mask wearing group due to the current covid 19 restrictions.
An unusual and very pleasant way to spend a sunny Saturday afternoon.

Wonderful way to spend your Sunday afternoon!!!

The tour guides we had were very knowleadgeble and friendly. Very interesting family histories of the site were revealed to us!

The weather was briliant, warm and summery. It gave us a good exercise with some climing, but mostly walking on old tree lined pathways. Stunning old trees.

Interesting walk with great views
wrz 2020
Yesterday afternoon I joined a guided walk around The Deepdene trail which was put on by Dorking Museum. Informative and interesting and a lovely way to spend the afternoon. Exercise and fabulous views. You can walk it by yourself following the map but having a guide telling you the history through lots of stories was worth the £5 fee which goes towards the upkeep of the museum. I hadn't realised there was so much history on my doorstep. We started and ended at Dorking Golf Club where you could get refreshments. Highly recommended. trail took approx 2 hours

Disappointing

Either we couldn't find these amazing places or it was overhyped. Good views though and very quiet...

Rhododendrons in Bloom
maj 2020
Each year, in May and early June, the rhododendrons come into bloom, a wall of purple around the Deepdene.

Good to walk here after parking in Dorking because there is only a small area beside the A24. There are really interesting information plaques around the trail, which explain the history and features of the area.

Scenery

What great scenery so close to Dorking! And an old mausoleum to visit. At this time of year the colours are amazing. And you can stop off for a coffee or a snack at the local golf club, too.

Educational with exercise thrown in!

A well led tour including areas off the beaten track and the usually locked mausoleum. The tour guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. Ran to over 2 hours in the end!
