18th birthday party cut short by some random staff.
mar 2019
18th birthday party cut short by some random guy, the communication between the management was very pure that I couldn’t rate. Why book a party and make someone pay for your function room when your going to ask them to live early. It’s heart breaking it ruined our party. If I had a lower rating I would be more than happy to rate. Never again very disappointed. This guy that come over trying to talk to us he was mumbling in stead of talking and he didn’t know what he was talking about. They shouldn’t let the lawn keepers to talk to people. Very disappointing. Hands up to the chef food was good.

Masonic event

Myself and family attended the golf club on Friday 9th Nov for a Masonic evening meal. Tables were packed too tightly together, ( a massive fire hazard), making it impossible to move about freely to get access to the bar or the toilets.
My mother ( who is disabled and on crutches) found it extremely difficult to actually be seated comfortable, and then equally as awkward to gain access to the toilets. The food was of a very poor quality, ( frozen and not even heated fully), condiments ( tartare sauce) had been sitting in bowls on the tables for some time, as skin had formed over the top.
Drinks appeared watered down, as had no taste whatsoever and 2 of our party had to return their drinks as the bitter was cloudy and the barmaid admitted the barrel had been recently changed.... ( coming from a family that have owned a pub in the past, I know that you have to pull a few pints off of a new barrel until it’s ready for drinking). The red wine had obviously been open for quite a while,
As it was sour and on the turn.

Food over and DJ starting for the evening, before we knew it, tables were being moved from the start of the dance floor and added onto the end of the tables where myself and my party were seated. We were literally hemmed in and could not move!! In case of a fire, we wouldn’t have stood a chance. I found the waiters/waitresses very shabby in their waiting skills, basically plonked down on the tables... and any empty glasses and crockery remained on the tables for ages,
Restricting already limited space.

Several family members left after the meal was over. I would not recommend this place for anything other than a game of golf!!!

I attended the club house/function room on the evening of Friday 9th November for a private function.
On being shown into the brightly lit room, the first thing to notice was the tightly packed tables, with very little room to move around, especially for my poor Mum who walks with crutches.
The second thing I noticed were the bowls of Tartare sauce for the fish main course (of which I’ll explain more later!) congealing on the tables in this very warm, bright room. This was at 6.30pm, and the tables had been laid around 3pm I later found out.
We proceeded to the bar to have a pre-dinner drink. Unfortunately, out of our party, 2 of the drinks had to go back to be changed as they were off, one being my glass of red wine, the other being a pint of draft bitter.
We took our seats and waited for our 7pm dinner to be served. At 7.30pm we were informed “The Chef is ready now” and out come our prawn cocktail starter. This was ok, no issues there. Then out come our main course of fish and chips, to go with the now warm and totally inedible tartare sauce.
This was disgusting. Frozen, soggy french fries served with thick, greasy battered pollock or coley (it certainly wasn’t cod) Out of our table of 11, at least 8 - 9 people refused to eat it as it was so unpleasant.
Don’t get me wrong, if I was in a ‘greasy spoon’ cafe somewhere, paying £5, I wouldn’t complain, but our tickets for the night were £30, and we were served appalling quality food, with no choice of menu selection, except for the dessert/cheese board.
Again, dessert/ cheese board was just ok, nothing special.
Dinner over, we were then informed a dance floor was available now the DJ had started to play for the evening. Everyone looked around the room slightly baffled.... and then over came 2 tables from the middle of the room, into the already tightly packed corner we were sitting in!
This completed blocked us in, with no where to freely walk to the fire exit of toilets. By now, as someone who walks with crutches, my Mum was panicking and feeling very uncomfortable. 2 of my party spoke to the staff about it and were met with a ‘oh well’ attitude, this led to an exchange of words.
When I myself explained about my Mum walking with aids, and how we were now completely boxed in at the back of the room , I was asked “Did you put down when you booked”!! My response, “Did I need to put that down then, to ensure we don’t get boxed in with 30 odd people in front of us”?!? My response back “Er, well no” It was at this point that 3 of us decided to leave immediately. Followed by 5 more when their cabs arrived, leaving our table of 11 now just 3 people.
Firstly, my main concern for this whole evening was the health and safety aspect. This club put us in a highly compromising position, God forbid should a fire of broken out. This room of 80 odd people were predominantly elderly, and with the way the tables were packed in to start with, and then the added 2 tables boxing is in, we probably wouldn’t of stood a chance if we need to get out in an emergency. Very concerning.
Secondly, the sub standard service and food quality, added to the health and safely issue, will definitely guarantee myself or my party will never return to this venue.
My final word.... AVOID.

Times they are a changin'
lis 2016 • Znajomi
The last time I visited this club, I vowed it would be my last . I wrote a stinking review which I felt was totally justified .

I heard that there had been a change of personel so we decided to give it another go.

The difference was enormous . Mike, the new pro could not have been more welcoming and this warmth extended throughout the clubhouse .

Despite poor weather , the course - which is really rather good - was in good nick and we enjoyed the day .

It's funny how it's the little things - being friendly , being helpful, being welcoming - can make all the difference . A big thumbs up and many thanks .

Hostile reception
sty 2016 • Znajomi
I made my first visit to Shooters Hill Golf Club today . A cold, wet miserable day but that was as nothing to the frostiness of the reception . We had phoned in advance , arrived at noon to be told that we would not be able to play for another hour - so we stood outside waiting whilst precisely NOBODY turned up to play . Whilst this may be member/green fee policy , and whilst this rule may be imposed upon the pro without the possibibility of any flexibility ( which is, in itself, ridiculous ) , the relish that was shown in causing this inconvenience , was palpable .

Both my son and son in law ( keen golfers ) live in the area and this was their third visit to the club with a view to applying for membership . However, on each occasion the atmosphere from the outset was nothing short of toxic. Is it any wonder that golf clubs are struggling to get younger members.i was amazed they gave the place three chances - once was more than enough for me.

Such a shame as the course might have been quite pleasant but there are cheaper ways to feel unwanted than parting with money to play here .
