Leave all electronics at Home or at the your Hotel
lut 2020
Before I start I will say the staff here were very polite and extremely well mannered.

My Mum and I were looking forward to coming here for ages and made the trip down to London from Cambridge especially for it.

Upon arriving we joined the queue which was full of some very sketchy looking people. Apart from a lot of shouting from a family who kept trying to jump the queue (again the staff handled this very well), all was good so far.

It all went wrong though when the staff were patting down my mum and asked "do you have any electronic equipment on you?" which of course we did, we couldn't make a trip down to London and leave our phones at home. They mentioned we couldn't come in with them but there were a few shops around that had lockers we could leave our stuff in but couldn't tell us which ones. We went in a few which were closest to the courts but none of them knew what we were talking about, and by this time we had missed the last entry timeslot anyway. So all in all a total waste of time.

In retrospect you could argue we should have done more research but realistically not everyone does that much research into everywhere they go, especially checking websites on the off chance you aren't allowed to take your phone into them. Plus they really should have small visitors lockers on site where you can leave your phones as everyone carries a phone nowadays.

The truth, the whole truth...........

Unfortunately we were unable to visit the public gallery during our visit due to Covid restrictions as there were already 5 members of the public in there. The security guard that explained the situation to us was very friendly and helpful.

The building itself is magnificent and very imposing.

Highly recommended especially if in the St Paul’s area.

Amazing, polite security staff 💕
wrz 2020
Despite not being able to do join the pubic gallery I simply cannot commend the security staff enough especially the young man on main entrance today. Having a days holiday and a staycation I thought this was the perfect thing to do. The staff were so apologetic it was only family allowed. I have a huge interest in criminal law and just started to read “The Secret Barrister” I hope when normality resumes I can see a trial in the public gallery

A morbid and entertaining look into the British justice system.

I went with my parents and aunt to have a look into a real life trial and it was fascinating. Leave your electronics at home or store them for a fee at a travel agents around the corner. The guard waiting outside the rooms will warn you whether it's a murder trial or not. You can take a small bag in with you. A must see for any visitor or londoner.

Great building

I came across by accident when walking round the city. The old Bailey is a great building and I was just so pleased to see its iconic symbol on the roof.

Magnificent Building
lis 2019 • Znajomi
As with all iconic London landmarks the building is just superb. We were on a very tight schedule and wanted to see the OB, St Paul’s, BoE and the Ripper Museum in a morning which we did. I always think the scales of justice at the top of the OB just tipify what’s so iconic about this building, a must do in my humble opinion.

A must for anyone interested in Law courts
lis 2019
It is a must for anyone who wants to see how serious crime in England and Wales is dealt with. This has been on our agenda for ages - we should have visited sooner, it was fascinating. We stayed for both the morning and afternoon sessions, but if you are time constrained you can still get a good flavour spending 1 to 2 hours there.

Advice -
Before attending you should read the court listing, which are published on the internet each day. Chose the case you wish to hear. If it turns out not to be to your liking you are able to leave the court after 30 minutes. You can enter the Public gallery of any court sitting, as long as the judge has not barred the Public. The usher will advise you.

Do not attempt to take any phone in with you - you are frisked by security staff, and have to pass through a metal detector; you will be ejected if you try. There is a friendly travel agents, Capable Travel, 150 metres along Old Bailey, which for a small fee will look after your phone, or for £5:00 will look after a small bag.

Be prepared to sit on slightly uncomfortable seats. But, I assure you it worthwhile.

Old Bailey visit.
paź 2019 • Wyjazd w pojedynkę
I called in at the travel agent round the corner from the Old Bailey to leave my mobile phone for a small fee as mobiles not allowed in court.i then waited in a que to see one of the trials.after a security check we were let into one of the courts.we sat there very quietly watching a case for a while before it was adjourned till the next day.i went to another court to watch another case before that was adjourned till the next day too.it was a strange feeling watching a real court case after seeing those sort of programs on tv but it was very interesting, can’t wait to do it again.

The symbol
sie 2019
This place is not just a magnificent building but it is also a synonym associated with criminal court and justice in the UK. I have read about "Old Bailey" so many times in so many different books that I was genuinely delighted to visit a place in person (not as a "customer", of course!)

Law and n action
sie 2019
A really interesting place to visit. The building has all the majesty of a great institution..along with an exhibition of robes. We sat in the public gallery and listened to quite a case...the justices were almost, but not quite, like characters from a book. The summing up if quite a complex case was brilliant, succinct and short. Well worth visiting for those who want to see law in action.
This us not like a play on t.v...it’s for real
