Unplanned Visit
maj 2021 • Pary
Visited The Lakes for a week & when driving & touring around Ullswater lake noticed the sign for Aira Force.
It was a bit of a cloudy & drizzly day so as we’re National Trust members decided to walk to The Falls. Fairly short & easy walk with a good path to follow.
Lovely woodland walk with views over Ullswater.
Good picnic area & tea room.
Can also take an easy amble to Ullswater shoreline.
A lovely unexpected walk.

An interesting adventure

Beautiful place and really enjoyed the trip. Easy walking even for a 3 and 4 year old. We parked at the top cat park, so walked down to the waterfall along the circular route 1.3miles. Some spectacular views across the hills.

If you love nature, this is a great place to visit. Really pretty, and easy to get to, you’d be a fool not to stop by.

Nice walking
kwi 2021 • Pary
Lovely walks but the lack of water made the falls less impressive than they might be. The one way Covid system was well signposted and the toilets and cafe were up to 5he usual National Trust standard. Well worth a visit.

Amazing views
kwi 2021 • Dla rodziny
Plenty of people moaning about the price of parking but £5 seems reasonable to me if it helps with the upkeep of the area and it seems they’re building a new viewing platform too
Lovely walk, especially when you get the weather!

Impressive Views
mar 2021 • Dla rodziny
Lovely walk with a one way system in place with Covid restrictions. The views are impressive and there are plenty of photo opportunities if you love taking pictures like me. Wear sensible shoes as the paths are maintained but can be quite steep and quite small steps for getting your feet on. It is not wheelchair friendly. I could imagine the place getting very busy at peak times and was pleased to be able to visit at an off peak time. The downside was the one toilet, I am pleased it was there but I can see it getting very busy. We paid for two hours and it cost five pound.

Utterly Magical
wrz 2020
We got told it always rained in the lake district but it was sunny all day and roasting hot. this busy spot was fantastic to walk around after exploring Penrith itself and not thinking too much of it. We also found a village called pooley bridge afterward and had a great afternoon exploring the little model-village type setting. Parking was a bit of an issue but we managed to find a space higher up

Scenic walk

Good parking at the National Trust car park, free for NT members. Well maintained paths with a good circular walk, steep in some sections, to take in the waterfall and surrounding views.

Great walk
sie 2020
We visited here with our dog. Parking was a nightmare as the car park was rammed and people queuing and just driving round and round. Eventually managed to park.

We had a great walk with our dog around the area and up to the water fall. It is a bit of an up hill, but then it is all down hill on the way back.

Best walk in the Lakes
gru 2020 • Pary
Didn’t really know what to expect but didn’t imagine series of cascades over more than a mile and each more spectacular than the last one. We were lucky that it had been so wet recently so the waters were boiling. Be sure to walk right to the top and. It turn back half way along. Easy walk for anyone reasonably fit but a walking pole helps as the path can be slippy.
