Amazing to see the ruins left behind and follow in the steps of the monks of old!

Lots of big free standing wall remnants from the original structures with plaques dotted around with information and pictures reimagining how it would have looked before along with a model of the whole site.

Well worth a visit especially as it's free to enter! Was the highlight of our trip to Lewes ❤️

Wandered around the ruins on a treasure hunt with my granddaughter looking for clues. She thoroughly enjoyed herself looking for clues around Lewes. But I digress. The ruins are a peaceful place to wander around.

Good ruins in fun parklands

Our four-year-old loves ruins lately (having recently visited Box Hill), and was absolutely delighted with the Priory Ruins in Lewes. It's a fascinating place, the remnants of an ancient monastery destroyed as part of Henry VIII's purges, but beyond this history it's also just a really cool space, in a big parkland where you can chill out and spend a fair bit of time if you want.

One of the Ruins that Henry VIII Knocked About a Bit.

This is a superbly presented site of one of the former most significant ecclesiastical buildings in Sussex. What remains of the buildings are well preserved and maintained, with really clear information boards around the area. It is a place to visit, relax and contemplate, with plenty of open space for a picnic. This is a must visit when in Lewes.

Fascinating but don't get run over on the way

Really interesting pre-reformation remains over a substantial area. Excellent interpretation boards. The route from the train station through the town is picturesque if steep on the way back. Best of all, it's FREE. Just make sure that you don't get run over. Lewes has more cars than people, a black mark for an otherwise lovely town.

We visited this place on a trip to Lewes. The kids liked running around and we enjoyed reading the information boards. It is a beautiful place and great that it’s in a public park and free to access and enjoy,
