One of the best spots in Mont Royal

Overlooking the open area of the lookout for the city of Montreal, this chalet stands as a place which has been turned into a museum. At the time of my visit, it was not possible to go inside due to restrictions but it sure is an interesting place to visit. There is a cafe which is a part of the chalet, accessible from behind the building.

Beautiful views of the city!

Definitely worth visiting for the views of the city. I came here with a friend on a terribly cold but beautiful day, and the Chalet also offered a perfect respite from the chilly wind. They have some historical exhibits that are interesting, and the building itself is beautiful on the inside, but it's really all about the view here.

Trek to the top, what a view!

My husband and I travelled overseas late last year with a three day stopover in Montreal. Its a nice place to visit, a lot to see and do. We walked thru Parc de Mont Royal up to the Chalet, amazing view at the top and inside there is a cafe that serves hot and cold drinks and a bite to eat, the interior hall in lovely and the artwork on the walls just adds to it. It would be an amazing setting for a wedding.

Welcomed and natural stopping point

Was a good stop for washroom and snacks during the hike around the mountain. Went at a time where it was too late for Fall activities, but too early for winter activities.

For the view of Montreal

The building itself is for most of visitors largely eclipsed by great view from the plateau. But once you are there, you will probably have a peek inside anyway. It will still most likely take backseat to the panorama of the city, but if you wish to linger longer up there, have a rest, take a seat, the Chalet is your place.

Perfect view

Overlooking Montreal and actually a beautiful park on the hill. There are 500 steps to cover getting up and down on several stairs.

Fascinating building!

Built in the 1930's, this building houses a bit of Montreal history in pictures. Unfortunately, the pictures are placed so high, it is nearly impossible to see them. However, the building sits right where the panoramas of the city can be viewed and makes a great place to take a break, including bathrooms.

Beautiful Chateau! Beautiful view!

There was preparation for a wedding going on when we were at the Chateau but we were able to peek inside to see the beautiful space. The grounds are also lovely and the view was amazing!

Nice Place for a Respite

Once you climb Mont Royal, take a few minutes to relax with a cup of tea at the Chalet. Service was friendly and prompt. French and English are spoken here. Enjoy a cup of tea and soak in the views.

Amazing View of the City

The Chalet itself is not really noteworthy, but the view of Montreal is a MUST SEE when you visit. Stunning!!

Can a taxi or uber deliver you close to the top?

They can bring you to the parking at the top but it will still be about 1km of walk in a pedestrian path to reach the cabin and the view, which is an easy and nice walk in the wood, specially with the fall colors if you go end of Sept, beg of Oct.

Hi, as Barbra highlighted, yes there is a paid parking with limited space close to Maison Smith (less than half a km to walk). On weekend, arrive early. There is also a nice lake close to the parking (Lac aux Castors) which on winter, they do slides on the hill. Very nice as well.
