Go early and be prepared for a moderate to difficult hike. My partner is older than I am and found it harder than we had anticipated for first thing in the morning but the views of Thunder Bay ARE incredible and totally worth it. You have to pay a small fee to drive up and then it`s just you and nature. There is a rock painted at the top that says "YOU MADE IT!" Great photo ops from up there. Enjoy!!

Beautiful lookout spot; optional scramble to the top of the mountain
paź 2020
This was a wonderful half-day trip, just a few minutes outside Thunder Bay. The entrance fee for a car is $10. The road takes you halfway up the hill to a parking lot with a lookout over the city. After that, there's a steep and quite challenging hike up to the top of the mountain. (It took us about 40 minutes each way.) Sturdy boots are a good idea, because the ground is uneven. The views from the top are spectacular. It's probably worth waiting for good weather (sunshine and not too much wind), because I'm told it can get quite wild up there. We were blessed with autumn sunshine and spectacular yellow leaves.

Panoramic view of TBay and the Sleeping Giant
sie 2020 • Dla rodziny
There is an entrance fee and a steep climb up the hill. While driving to the site, you will be able to see the lookout platforms from the First Nation reserve and be amazed on how high it is.

The toll booth collector was nice as well. And of course the view is unmatched especially of Nanabijou (the Sleeping Giant). We were able to see deer grazing at the toll booth area.

This facility is well kept and well maintained.

Nice view and nice hike

You have to try the hike up the mount. It is hard but it is very nice, and not that long. Nice views.

Great view of the city and lake

An adult activity as there is not much interactive items. Mainly for photography buffs who want to see the expanse of Lake Superior and Thunder Bay.

Great View

There is a hiking route up to the very top of the Mount, above the scenic view walkway, which is great in itself but requires some skill and strength as its a rocky and steep ascent and at your own risk but a terrific view when you get there.

A nice view!

I live very close to this mountain. I can see it from my house. It's cheap to go up to the lookout area and they have pow wows in the summer. I was also at a wedding on this mountain once. There are hiking trails

Spectacular geography

Thank you to the Fort William First Nation for allowing people to hike on their land. In the winter the road up to Anemki Waucheu (Mt McKay) is closed. You can however park at the old water treatment plant and hike into Crescent Lake or over to an ice waterfall enjoyed by the climbing community.

Great view, but no amenities

We traveled up to the top of this beauty for the view. Luckily we did not need to use a restroom as they had all been damaged and were unusable. The view is amazing and worth the drive!
