The guide told us a wonderful story of how life was in the past especially the tales of the men congregating in the barber shops. The memorabilia includes posters of Charlie Chaplin, Marilyn Monroe and others. It's fun to see the artwork all along Barber's Alley.

During our people-to-people cultural exchange tour, we visited this fascinating small museum dealing with the history of barbershops in Cuba. It is part of an effort (Artecorte) to revitalize a small alley in old Havana, now generally referred to as Barber's Alley. This museum which is three rooms, upstairs in a renovated building has an amazing collection of items depicting the history of barbering in Cuba. There is a companion facility (Escuela de Peluqueria) a few yards down the block, that is an active school of barbering, which also gives tours. Taken together, these two attractions and the alley in general are a must see, if you get to old town Havana.
