Saoba ruins are two stone pillars. "Saoba" means "plank" in the Ami (one of the aboriginal tribes in Taiwan) language. Legend has it that a group of Ami people came for land reclamation and encountered a storm. They then picked up some planks from nearby to protect themselves from the rain. This place is thus named "Saoba" (plank).

Up till today, there are many myths and legends concerning the Saoba ruins. But where were these stone pillars from? By whom and what means were these pillars transported and set there? They're just quite mysterious.
