Easy walk on a gravel track- for some reason they've closed the road access to the main car park so it's a 10 min walk into the actual reserve. Great view of the city as you walk in!
The walk is easy- and if you do a lap of the lake it only takes 30 mins... you can of course deviate onto the bike tracks, if you dare. There were a lot of bike riders whizzing down the tracks at high speed.
Have seen people posting amazing wildlife photos from the park- I personally didn't see anything other than butterflies and ravens. Could hear the kookaburras though. I was there between 11-12 noon...it got really busy as I was leaving. Lots of people going for a swim/ picnic. There are at few nice viewpoints too.
There are toilets and picnic areas available and of course, Blue Lake. Swimming happens but there are signs warning against the cold water and submerged rocks.
For me, it isn't the best park of the Plenty Gorge Parklands but it was OK.

Peaceful bush land near the city

Part of the Plenty Gorge Parklands this place takes you away from the city and transports you to a tranquil setting. You travel down a dirt road and drive a short distance to a number of car parks. We parked at the last car park (you can't drive any further in) and than took a 10 min walk down a incline. At the bottom of incline you will see the lovely blue lake. You can actually swim here if you want. You can than walk back around lake up another incline. It's not too strenuous.

Does anybody remember when the paddock on the Ivanhoe Grammar track was a horse paddock in the late 80s. It had fencing a river crossing, blue berry bushes and bee hive boxes. Our horses lived here. Does anyone have photos?
