Unusual frescos of altars
wrz 2016 • Znajomi
A church occupying a prominent position on top of a hill, built in the 18th century. The doors were closed while we were passing by to see the Dacice Chateau, but through an opening in the door window we were able to catch a glimpse of the large frescos of the altars. I found this unusual but interesting as I am used to large, gilded, ornamental alters with statues.

Worth diverting your walk but not your day
Closed when we were passing, this church is imposing enough and occupies a strikingly prominent hilltop site. It's not however of such architectural or aesthetic merit that you should make a special trip. The wooded area in which it sits is the chief attraction: plan to make your route through Petrin Hill to come this way and you can see the magnificent view of Prague laid out below you.

3 Bells tower, one of the dominating sights of the town
The church belongs among dominating sights of the town. St. Laurence church was built in late Baroque between 1775–1788. A 51 metres high renaissance tower, built between years 1586–1592, is visible from all directions. In summer months it is possible to take a look around the town and its the nearest surroundings from the tower. The Parish Church, next to the tower was built in the baroque spirit. Dean John Neulingera and proprietor of the estate of count John Bedřicha Osteinu. The Church of sv. Lawrence is already third in the order in the same place. Previously there was the original Romanesque church, which was mentioned in the first written report about Dačice. The cornerstone of Church sv. Lawrence was laid 20. 8.1775 and building took a full 14 years according to plans by architect Michael Kirchmayera. The temple with the length of the ship 41.5 m, indoor massive roof, is amongst the most spacious nave churches in Moravia. In the interior are particularly significant three altars-main St. Lawrence and side-sv. Valburgy and p. Marie. Large frescoes are of great perfection, soft harmonies and great prospects. The Church also focuses on the stone pulpit and old baptismal font dating from 1500.
