Autumn walk
lis 2018 • Dla rodziny
Took a day trip with kids ages 9 and 7 to enjoy the colored leaves and hiking. I would strongly advise to arrive before 9 am if you are planning to park near Takimoto Station where you can take the cable car or hike to Mitakesan Station. The shrine was beautiful, and the walk up the steep streets and stairs was worth while.

Just one of many beautiful landmarks in the area!

Just one of many beautiful landmarks in the area to see while in the valley. The shrine provides a nice resting area to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet. Rich in history and culture, this shrine offers many photo ops all at a slow pace. Slow your life down a bit, visit the area!

Peace and Tranquillity

The shrine is located some several hundred stairs up from Mitakesan Cablecar station. The legends of the lost samurai being guided by the Kami in the form of a wolf is what drew me to this place of homage. Once a top the stairs there is a museum of such dedicated to the samurai who lost his way on the mountain, whom discovered a Kami in the form of a white wolf. You will see that the wolf is represented throughout the grounds of the temple. It’s also another reason why dogs are taken there to be blessed according to what I’ve heard. The staff at the shrine was respectful, as always at any shrine you visit in Japan. The goshinchou book stamp will run you 500¥, if your into collecting the stamps like myself. However, the clean air, view, and quiet environment is enough to make one take out their meditation beads and just relax for a bit.

Great trekking with natural

We found this place just accidentally lived around. It's easy to arrive by about 15 minute bus from Mitake station and you could choose to walk up to take the cable. Visitors have multiple choice depending on your physical condition and companies. The trekking is great and cozy in summer. We found many stays for mountain climbers and there are some simple food up there. It would be a great choice if you like natural.

Uphill walk from the cablecar station, nice views

Be prepared to walk ascending for around 20-30 minutes to the shrine. From there, there are stairs all the way up to the shrine. Don't worry, plenty of benches for those who need little breaks on the way to the top.

You are greeted with some amazing views on the area as well as the shrine selling charms and fortunes. I loved the statue of the white knight and horse. This shrine is a little different from the ones around the main areas of Tokyo - less to see but most people stop by as the first point of their hike around the mountain for the day.

As is customary at Japanese shrines, you can wash your hands with water collected from the mountain at the entrance to the shrine. What you may not have seen before is that there is a lower section for pet dogs also where they can have a drink or cool off - very neat!

The White wolf of the mountian
This is an awesome shrine on the top of a very scenic hill. It is well worth going to and they provide some English resources. I would recommend getting your fortune told at the little kiosk up the top (only ¥200 and supports the shrine).

The walk up although steep, is only short. Be prepared for some scenic views as they are presented to you from all angles of the mountain.

Special treat by the local
maj 2014 • Znajomi
After reached Mitakesan Cable Car Station, one still need to walk for another 30min to reach Musashi-Mitake Shrine and on the way, one will pass a small village and prepare for some ascend as well. It was a beautiful shrine but normally people won't do the hike just to visit it, unless you are here for the valley hiking.

But we were traveling with my mom that has difficulties to do such a hectic hike for her, so we were just strolling along the pathway. However, out of our expectation, we were offered by a local to drive us up to the shrine by his mini-van and waited for us to send us back to the cable car station! Such a great deed and hospitality from the local Japanese that we'll never forget!
