Great experience, fun adventure

Although not our first time at this beautiful landmark, it was our first time with small kids and it definitely makes the experience a bit more daunting. The staff is friendly and did warm us that the steps might be a little steep for young ones. We could go all the way up and peer out the windows even in windy conditions. The bathrooms are clean.

Above the Southernmost Tip of Africa
gru 2019
Nice view over Cape Agulhas. It is a little windy at the top so make sure you hold onto your hats, phones/cameras etc.
If you are afraid of heights or aren't too comfortable climbing up and down ladders this is not for you - if you are - it is worth a visit.

Downstairs a nice exhibition of lighthouses + local national park informations. Ladder going upstairs (not recommended for toddlers), very windy balcony (be prepared).

The southern most tip of Africa
lut 2020
One can’t live in or visit South Africa without venturing to this the most southerly tip, where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic.
The lighthouse has amazing views once you have braved the 171 steps to the top but even if you don’t/can’t the museum at the base has much to offer.
Follow the decking walkway (wheelchair friendly) and arrive at the Iconic Map of Africa monument. Sitting in the middle of a huge stone circle of 30 meters in diameter and made out of concrete, this impressive monument encourages people to step onto it and explore Africa.

Breath taking view

The 171 steps to the top was all worth it for the most amazing view at the top of the Lighthouse and another wish completed on my bucket list

Great lighthouse
lut 2020 • Pary
The lighthouse, from 1848, dominates views. It is the start of the decking walkway to the very southern most point of Africa. Great location

Fascinating exhibition of lighthouse history
lut 2020
OK - so you have the chance to climb all the ladders and look out from the top of the tower, but you can actually do much more. The building houses a small exhibition which explains a great deal about the role lighthouses have played over the centuries - well worth a visit.

Shine a light

The lighthouse is situated at the southernmost tip of Africa. Inside is a museum which costs 35 rand to go in. You can climb the 70+ steps to the top to take in the views. There is currently a display on marine conservation. Well worth a visit.

If you’re there, go up it
sty 2020
If you traveled to the southern tip of Africa, climb the light house, normal light house stairs (very steep) with a final ladder to reach the top.
Once outside at the top you can climb to the narrow walkway, or so good with very young kids.
