The motel is located on a busy street so there is a lot of road noisy. Our room though was spacious and comfortable. The location suited us for our business needs. The hosts on check in were a bit grumpy but on checkout we had a different person and she was very pleasant and helpful.

Room tip: As far away from street as possible

Thank you for your review. We are sorry to hear that the greeting that you received on your arrival was not very friendly and welcoming. I would also like to apologise for the mix up regarding your payment. We had been away for a few days returning after you had checked in. The motel was being looked after by a minder. Customer service is very important to us and we appreciate your comments.

Sadly not much we can do about the road noise as we are situated on State Highway 1(like most motels in Timaru) but would like to advise that some nights are noisier than others depending on the volume of traffic. Our units nearest the road are double glazed which helps to shut out some of the noise.

A huge smile and a friendly welcome were the first things we were greeted with.
Decided to stay for one night, on a whim, on our way to Christchurch, but Parklands was such a cosy happy place we ended up extending and staying three!
Great kitchen, big bath, huge laundry, and a comfy bed- can't ask for more!
Yes, the car parks aren't very wide, but so what!? - you aren't sleeping in em! :)
Will stay again, and recommend to others.

I am nervous to write this review in case I get a response from the host claiming I didn't actually visit this motel, because I did not enjoy my stay. Hosts are polite and helpful it was just the room we had a problem with. Although the room was spacious and clean which was good for a family, and the kitchen separate from the lounge/bedroom, I did find the decor a bit dated (circa 1990) and the room was quiet damp, there was a dehumidifier in the corner. Also the heater in the lounge was not pushing out enough heat to warm the separate bedroom which was quite cold. Also did not appreciate the signs in the kitchen saying 'leave it in the condition you found it!Is that a threat? Finally the stairs to and from our unit were crazy slippery in the rain and getting our suitcases to our room in the dark was a nightmare. Oh and the car parks.. i suggest everyone gets out of the car before you park otherwise you might find yourself in the garden!Lets just say its a little cosy.

We had left our previous accomodation early at a very upmarket resort in another town because it hadn't met our expectations. We drove pass this motel and the tidiness and neat appearance made us stop and enquire. We were shown our room by an exceptionally friendly host before we committed to staying and it looked comfortable enough. We were so glad we chose to stay. Although the room wasn't overly modern , it was large comfortable and quiet with a full size bath in the large bathroom. Fantastic. Our host was very helpful in choosing a dinner venue and made us feel very welcome. It was close to the city centre. Thanks for making our final night in New Zealand memorable

I arrived quite late after a very long drive. I was greeted with a lovely big smile and then escorted to my room.

The motel is in a great central location and is very easy to find. The room I had was exceptional, a lot of little touchs had been added that just made you feel very comfortable. Having quality soaps, fresh milk and nicely laid out amenities was quite refreshing. I have to come back to timaru for business quite a bit over the next 6 months and I will definitely be staying at the Parklands. I would strongly recommend this place to any person or family requiring a nice place to stay !
