Once you find the hotel (other reviewers helpfully pointed out it's behind an archway that can't be seen from the street) the actual location is perfect for exploring Moscow on foot. We walked to most of the attractions and that added to the overall experience of Moscow. The rooms are huge - very 70's, with crockery encased in corner units in the reception room of the suite -along with a fridge. There was a sitting room - TV stations as expected. Staff on reception very helpful and spoke good English. The breakfast is just plain odd - five sausages and a pint of lager is what most people were having; I had fish stew!!! The bed was big and comfy and there was a TV in this room too. Overall I would recommend this hotel. Good value for money - we were out and about for all of our trip so the hotel was perfect for just popping back to. The are good restaurants nearby but from the outside most restaurants don't look very inviting. Just go in, hand your coat in reception and take it from there. We had very good experiences and there is always impromptu dancing- thee Russians love it !!
We took a boat trip with dinner at night along the river - I would definitely recommend this. It was a fantastic experience with live music, food was good, plenty of drinks, and you can stand outside and watch Moscow unfold - they bring you blankets to keep you warm!

A last minute choice, the room was very cheap (at 2800R per night) but did not seem so. My room was cleaned daily and breakfast, although not perfect, was satisfactory. I had dinner there on one occasion and it was very nice. It is in an excellent location between Park Kultury (near Gorky Park) and Kropotkinskaya Metro stations. The receptionists were always happy to help and friendly to boot. Small issues were that the heating was often too high and the wifi was temperamental. Would recommend.

Moscow is expensive when it comes to accommodation. If you want to stay central be prepared to pay for it.

In my opinion Bagration Hotel has a good balance with price, quality and location. It is located on a quiet street within 8 minutes walk to Metro station Kropotninskaya or 10 minutes to Park Kultury (circle line). From Kropotkinskaya station it is 3 minutes to the very center of Moscow, like Red Square, Lenin Library, Kremlin and so on.

I got single room (refurbished, bit more expensive). It is quite big room with small entrance corridor, OK bathroom. There was TV, safebox, desk. It was warm (traveled in December) and quiet. Room was cleaned every day, with fresh towels always ready.

Breakfast is included in the price and is the only downside of this hotel. Be prepared to low quality food of 2-3 star hotel, but it is OK and keeps you going for few hours.

It was perfect for 4 day business trip. I would stay there again.

Room tip: Don't stay on the ground floor, people pass by your window.

This hotel looks like it hasn't been modernized for at least 25 years, both in terms of interior and in terms of service. There was a stale smell in the room, heating fixed at 28-30C (needed to open the window with -12C outside), extremely antipathic service and the breakfast buffet was looked like it was served 3 hours earlier with nothing fresh, no fresh fruits, no fresh breads, even the cheese and meats tasted very bad. Moscow is not a cheap city, but 142 Euros for this hotel was really exaggerated given the value you get.
