Wonderful staff, always friendly and available. Meals were fresh and delicious. So many activities from biking, hiking, skiing, snowboarding, and more. The slopes are a five minute walk from the lodge which has a homey feeling, and really comfy and clean tatami rooms. Great escape from Tokyo!

The lodge is in an ideal location for a variety of outdoor activities and provides a perfect home base for exploration. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. They provided excellent recommendations for exploring the area based on individual interests and fitness levels. Additionally, they keep you fueled for adventures with delicious and healthy meals! Rooms are spacious and comfortable. The lobby is a great location to relax in the evening, read a book, or chat with other lodge guests. I have already booked a return trip

As I walked into the lounge area of the new NORTHSTAR's Alpine Lodge, I felt like I had just come home. The fire in the fire place blazing, the sun's light shining in through the windows, and most of all, knowing the staff here really cares about people made me feel like I was at home. Plus the food is amazing, and so are the baths!

We enjoyed a fabulous weekend at Northstar last week. The staff are always so friendly and helpful and the meals really delicious - real home from home cooking. We had booked a mountain bike tour which was well organised and great fun. We most definately be booking again.

Our family stayed at Northstar. We have 2 small children and they loved it! The Norikura village was a great place for our children to hike both with concrete and dirt trails through the woods. Onsens, restaurants, and other activities were within easy walking distance. The Northstar staff were terrific and the meals were great! The lodge has lots of activities to keep our family busy and happy also.

If you are not Japanese be aware that the showers are not private. They are open Japanese bath-style separated men and women, but open not unlike a high school gym (but MUCH nicer).

I can't say enough good things about this resort in the summer and would highly recommend it.
