The outside of the hotel doesn't look like much, and the lobby needs some updates (it is a strange mixture of front desk, rental car, restaurant, snack bar), but the room was one of the nicest I've seen, even from some 4 and 5 star hotels. Clearly newly renovated and very well decorated. The headboard and nightstand light both had outlets handy for charging phone and tablet. The bathroom was immaculate. Friendly staff. I didn't use the internet as I wasn't provided login directions and couldn't figure it out in a few minutes on my own. Used my hotspot, but I'm sure I could have called down to the front desk for speedy resolution. The hallway did smell a bit like smoke, and some of the nearby guests were a bit rowdy, but nothing too inconvenient. Location is convenient to a lot of dining options. My one complaint is that housekeeping knocked on the door at 8:30 am. I was sleeping and didn't realize what was happening til around the 3rd knock. It stopped, so I didn't call out or respond, assuming since the deadbolt was locked they would come back later. Instead, about 5-10 minutes, they began knocking again. I came to the door and looked out, and it appeared they had a supervisor or engineer brought over to unlock the door and open the latch. I finally opened the door and asked them to come back later. I can understand if it was close to or after check out time, but at 8:30 am, there is absolutely no need to be quite so set on getting into a guest room. If I was sleeping more deeply, or in the shower, they cant expect a non-response to the knocking to mean that no one is in the room. It was a very strange encounter and something I have never encountered at a hotel before. After being so impressed with the hotel until that point, it ended my trip on a bit of a sour note.
