We love this deli. We dined on very tasty scrambled eggs with salami, potato latkes, cheese blintzes, lentil soup, cabbage rolls, and drinks. All the food was very yummy, and the service very friendly and helpful.

Ordered the kishka, gravy very generic tasting, arrived at table barely warm. Also had the old fashioned smoked meat sandwich with fries, coleslaw and dill pickle. Smoked meat was very generic, very commercial tasting. Coleslaw might as well have been out of a supermarket container....Not worth the trip north. Pancer's is better.More
Disgusting! I first ordered their brisket which arrived covered in dark goo. I sent it back and ordered a corn beef sandwich that had ice cold fatty meat slapped between two dry pieces of bread. Sent that back too. I only went their because a...friend of mine wanted to go. After my first experience with this deli where the server behind the counter asked for a tip, I was loathe to give this place another chance. Never again! Beyond dreadful.More
This is a family spot, run by a family for decades in a family business style. They don’t take attitude from rude people (read between the lines from other reviews). Me? I’m a south-Asian brown guy who lives near this very Jewish area (and I...love smoked meat and briny pickles) and this place treats my family like their family. It’s busy often, listen to the recommendations of the wait staff, they know what’s good and what’s up. We get the sandwich special with the Black Cherry Soda (updated now to glass bottles from the old Cott Soda) but everything here is quite old school style and comfort food wall to wall. Those fries when fresh, are magic. When my kids think of a place for our family to go (which I’m glad doesn’t break the bank) it’s Centre Street Deli.More
Family day, took family for brunch, entered the restaurant, told server table for party of 10. The horror on her face. She had to call the manager. Eventually the manager showed up, looked at a map of the restaurant. ( have to mention the restaurant...was almost empty). Eventually figured out can push 5 tables together. Now it gets even worse, the manager was rude, it was an inconvenience to move tables, the waitress who took our orders, rushed, messed up the orders , told the restaurant had run out of fries, yet other parties at other tables had fries with their meal, some of the orders delayed. My grandson was so upset he could not get what he ordered. Also the waitress non apologetic, the manager somewhat apologetic. The manager did us a favour , took my grandsons order off the bill I’m so disappointed and disgusted at the level of service. Prior to the pandemic, patrons lined up for a table for brunch and lunch. When we left after 12 noon, plenty of empty tables. Will not go there again for a meal. It’s possible other patrons have experienced poor service, rude management, they will dine elsewhere.More
First of all parking is easy. Large and bright restaurant with a deli menu to meet a variety of tastes. Service is friendly and attentive. Portions are very generous and the deli meats were excellent. Next time we will have to start off with soup...as we saw many others enjoying. Focussed on serving quaility in a “deli” atmosphere.More
This is an old school NY style deli. They must have read their recent reviews since my smoked meat sandwich was quite good. Plus, my kids really liked their sandwiches as well.
You have got to be kidding!!!! This deli is a disgrace. I bought a pound of turkey breast and a rye bread and the man who served me walked me over to the cashier. The cashier rang up the amount and I handed him my...credit card. He held out the card machine and I tried to tap my card but it wouldn't work. The man who served me hovered over this transaction and said I had to select an option. There were three different amounts from which I could choose as a tip. A tip???? For what? Slicing the meat and taking a bread off the shelf? I ignored him. He kept insisting that I had to make a selection because the machine wouldn't accept my card otherwise. I was gobsmacked for want of a better word. Who the hell gets a tip for serving a customer? Does this mean that every salesman needs a tip for doing the job they're hired to do? According to them then every person who works in the retail business should be given a tip. I'm all for tipping waiters but for serving customers from behind the counter? The owner should consider paying their employees a liveable wage and not gouge their customers. This deli needs to be taught a lesson for their greed in the only way they'll learn it. I'll never go back and will tell everyone I know to do the same.More
Just a few days ago I called to ask some questions about some food I would be purchasing and the man that answered was abrupt, and could not wait to end the call. Today I went in and asked for the owner. A man was...brought to me and I told him what happened and that for years I have been dealing with Centre St. Deli and the previous owner went above and beyond to serve her customers. The guy did not apologize, nor did he offer me something that the previous owner would have. I now find out that the guy I spoke to was not the owner. There is a lady that owns it so I was lied to. What kind of business sense do these people have!More
We have been taking out from Centre Street often during the Pandemic. Not quite as good as when Sheryl owned the place but still going strong. Old fashioned Montreal smoked meat, greek salads and pickled salmon as well as the party sandwiches are great.
New owners cutting back on quality while raising prices Sell old food should be investigated by heath Canada
We ordered a Montreal smoked meat sandwich, is was absolutely terrible we had to throw it away. They cut the meat from the end piece and shoved all the hard stuff from the end piece into the sandwich. Plus it was cut really thick, the...worst sandwich I have ever had. We will not EVER go back there.More
Since the original owners sold the business a few years ago, the quality of food has absolutely changed for the worse. Unfortunate. Fries have an old oil taste, party sandwiches are not as fresh and can bee put together in a sloppy manner. Even small...things like the ketchup were changed. Sad.More
5/5 review - amazing food, can’t wait to come back again and try more food options. Smoked meat is outstanding. Highly recommend Greek salad, the salad dressing is excellent. Also the desserts are top of the line! Highly recommend Centre Street Deli
Although it’s in a suburb of the 6ix, it’s worth the trip to Thornhill. It’s the best deli I’ve ever had. It’s a great family restaurant that’s sure to please any Deli connoisseur. Their old fashioned corned beef is the best I’ve had and their...lentil soup and fries are delicious. One of my pregnancy cravings used to be their blueberry buns (grab one on your way out with a Cherry 🍒 Blossom) for a midnight snack and you will thank me!More
