I live in Pickering and I should have known better than to trust the recommendations from the residents here. Anyone who has been to Scarborough or Mississauga will know what REAL Indian food tastes like. I made an attempt and was absolutely disappointed in everything...except the Papadam!! If you mess up papadam you should be closed down. The Biryani was over cooked pilau with curried stew on it. The Garlic naan had absolutely no garlic and was double the price of the butter naan, they looked exactly the same. The butter chicken was nothing more than a can of tomato paste. We will never never eat here again nor do we recommend this place to anyone with a pallet for taste. My husband is white BTW 🤣🤣 just incase some of y’all are offendedMore

We are huge lovers if Indian cuisine and have eaten at many Indian restaurants across NA and This one is so so. The lamb biryani was terrible. It was as if they puréed the meat, added a couple cubes and mushed it in rice. And...I wish they used a better quality of rice. Theirs is a rubbery, slimy pellet that is really quite terrible But the Chana masala, vindaloo, and butter chicken had excellent flavour and were very good So avoid the biryani, make your rice at home, and enjoy the rest!More

To be blunt, this was the most disgusting food I have ever had. I ordered takeout chicken biryani, naan, and palak paneer for my son’s birthday. The ‘biryani,’ was not biryani; it was disgusting, poorly cooked yellow rice, with what looked like chewed up pieces...of minced chicken in between. I could not stomach more than a bite, nor could anyone else and it was promptly thrown out. The palak paneer had zero flavour or taste and the paneer pieces were a highlighter green (probably from sitting in there for so long). The naan was likely store bought and just thrown in a toaster. There was no tandoor or fresh flavour to it whatsoever. I truly don’t know how this place is open. After reading google reviews, it’s clear that most of them are fake/farmed, as I cannot fathom how anyone would like this food. The most disgusting and disappointing food experience in my life.More

It's the worst Indian food I ever had, the biryani rice was regular rice on top of wet food no test, the nan was like Afgani bread got nothing to do with the Indian nan I know. It was a big mistake to order from...them, it will never happen again.More

If you want an average Indian lunch, the Mount Everest will be OK. The food was not too spicy and is probably catering to the average Canadian liking. However, to me the spice level was bland.

Ordered a few favourite dishes and asked for “spicy”. It was pretty much inedible - it was brutally hot. I was told I could have mild, medium or spicy...and it wasn’t mentioned that spicy would be fiery hot. We usually like spicy/reasonably hot food, but...this was sadly ruined for us. All of the dishes were like this so they all just tasted the same with the overwhelming heat of the dishes. In the past, dishes were flavoured/spiced by the chefs and different dishes offered variety in spice level, eg butter chicken mild/sweet/creamy, curry rich/spicy, etc...not sure what is going on, but this is not the Mt Everest I remember.More

I hope the new owners read these... our first few visits after they took over we’re amazing! The last few... have left us missing the old owners. Please stop changing the recipes! I just got the butter chicken from the buffet and it full of...a new peppery spice. It used to be sweet and mild and that’s what always had me coming back. My in laws have noticed differences to their fav dishes as well. Please keep the recipes as they were and the lunch buffet dishes milder. They’re getting too spicy for many people that loved your food. If people want it spicier, they will order it that way when they place the order. The previous owners were so successful for a reason... so keep it that way. Hoping our next few visits see improvements back to the usual. We don’t like the changes taking place and this is our favourite place to eat out and get take out. I’m disappointed in my meal today. -a concerned, loyal customerMore

Really delicious food! We ordered a “feast” meal for 3 people which came with a variety of dishes included. The bbq style chicken came first and was so tender & tasty. All our dishes were excellent. The butter chicken is amazing. The pea dish in...our feast was awesome. The sauces were all great. I have not one word to say against the food; it was all fresh, hot and well prepared. Service was fast, efficient & polite. Very nice local restaurant. Decor is fine, tables all very clean. Only advice I could give them is their restroom could use some attention & sprucing up, because that was the only negative impression I got.More

This small family run Indian restaurant is just excellent. Parking is around the back and the 3 or 4 steps to gain entrance are worth every step! My wife and I decided to quietly celebrate our anniversary there. The place is small yet well appointed...seating approximately 40 patrons. The service was great, attentive yet not overwhelming. The onion bhajis were the best, in fact everything was very good. The papadums, both our curries ..... yum yum! Monday to Friday they have a lunchtime buffet also on Sunday. The menu is extensive. As we had not been here since the new owners purchased I needed to be careful as to Schofield scale (heat). My Lamb Madras great, I would order it hotter next time. As I am not keen on the potatoes in a Vindaloo, never gave been, I thought I would stick with Madras. As we talked with our waiter, a family member, he advised I could modify my Vindaloo. If you like Indian I am sure this is the best in the area.More

I can't get enough of this place. As a vegetarian, I am in heaven exploring the menu and tasting the unique flavours and textures of Mt. Everest's dishes. Now, Mt. Everest is just a couple dozen metres away from Mumbay Grill, another excellent Indian restaurant....And while I visit Mumbay Grill frequently, the dishes there are more conventional. Mt. Everest has a style all its own. The veggie appetizers are all delicious, but I am particularly hooked on the egg pakoras. Perfectly done hard-boiled eggs in a delicious batter. The chana masalah is special, and the mattar paneer and saag paneer are divine. The soy bean fibre doesn't sound too appealing but the chewy, meaty chunks of soy in a thick gravy are spectacular. Also excellent is the Nauratan Vegetable Mix, enhanced with pistachio bits and almond slices. The Burtha is tangy and filled with peas, a lovely eggplant dish. And the tarka dhal and mushroom bhaji are totally dependable. The staff is friendly and the prices and portions very good. I almost always do takeout, but the little restaurant is also cozy.More
