Let me start by saying that servers and staff were friendly. We arrived at about 5:30 on Friday night and a little bit busy. It took 45 minutes to get our entrees. I got the spaghetti and meatballs, mainly based on what one of the...reviews said. Well, the spaghetti with sauce was ok but nothing to write home about. The meatballs were bland. I had to ask for butter for my bread which the waitress then brought. My wife had the baked alfredo and it wasn't bad. A couple who sat across from us, who were there before we got there, didn't get their meal till we were almost done with ours. A good hour wait. But here's the kicker. My wife ordered coffe with her meal and had a second cup. When I got the bill, there were two $3.00 charges on there. When I asked the waitress about it she said they charged for her second cup of coffe. What?!?! What restaurant doesn't give free refills on coffee?? Obviously this one. I couldn't get over that. I have NEVER been to a restaurant that charges extra for an extra cup of coffee - at least not in this country. We may go back again and give it another try but probably not for a long time.More

I have to admit that I did not have very high expectations of a small restaurant in a small town, but let me tell you how wrong I was! This is one of THE BEST Italian meals we have ever had in all of our...travels. I had spaghetti and meatballs which was filled with flavor and also had olives in it. Amazingly delicious! Hubby had a cheesy pasta dish that he also loved. It was our anniversary trip, so we splurged for mushroom appetizers that were incredibly flavorful as well as a tasty tiramisu dessert. With a generous tip for outstanding service, our bill was around $80 which we felt was a steal! This restaurant was right across from our B&B (Main Street B&B), so that was another benefit.More

I had seen this place listed in the Hannibal travel literature, and being a big pizza fan, I decided I needed to stop by. I got there rather early for dinner, but I wanted to beat the rush then catch a movie just down the...street. With it being early, I had no trouble being seated. Soon enough I had my order in (pesto shrimp!) and was ready to lay into a pizza. The wait wasn't long before it was placed in front of me. Mmmmmmmm. I love hand-tossed crust, and this was good. To me, the crust makes the pizza, and as the Italians might say, this was a made crust. Good stuff. Good toppings as well. The pesto wasn't overpowering and there was plenty of shrimp to keep this seafood lover happy. Overall, a very nice experience at The Brick Oven. It's conveniently located just off of Main Street, so take a nice stroll, see all the interesting shops, then head a few yards off the main drag and turn into this little gem. You won't be sorry.More

We visited as a group of seven, it had been a busy day for them and the hostess who was feeling frustrated with the lunch rush was less than freindly with us. She gave us the impression she wanted us to leave by gruffly telling...us there was an hour and a half wait and that they will not seat parties larger than six together, although there were no parties there that appeared to be waiting for their spot in the que. We obliged her and took our business elsewhere. I get it, it was busy and they didn't have enough help, but there was no call for her rudeness.More

We had the chicken Parmesan and the Alfredo penne. Every single thing that came out of the kitchen looked amazing! They were so busy due to a festival downtown and Tina was still the best waitress ever. She’s funny and kind and gives great recommendations!

Friendly place offering a view of the wood burning oven. I had shrimp scampi and a glass of wine. Shrimp were generous and well prepared. The pasta was fettuccine, a surprise for me but I’m not local and it might be a regional preference.

This is a hidden gem. The staff is great and the service is tops. The pizzas are made with the best ingredients and baked just right. We watched the chefs in the kitchen and they didn't rest. A special note: Two men in wheelchairs were...there when we arrived. When they were ready to leave, the entire staff assisted them with the door and exit without being asked. That spoke volumes for the service. We recommend The Brick Oven if you want quality food, prepared properly, by a super staff. We were just tourists and have no connection to this restaurant, but we will return.More

My sister has a house in Monroe City and we decided to go to Hannibal because it was an overcast day and we weren't going to go on the lake. She has dined here before and her family really enjoys the food. We arrive about...2 pm for lunch. The person that greeted us sighed when we said we would like to dine for lunch. We had 3 adults and 4 kids. So a party of 7. We were willing to split into smaller tables. The host told us they were short staffed and just sat an 8 top so we would have to wait, but we couldn't wait there they didn't have the space for us to wait around. (No one else was waiting, but the entrance is pretty cramped.) We gave our number and she said she would call. 45 minutes layer we go back. She had not called. We were told 5 more minutes so we waited outside the restaurant. 5 minutes turned into 15 and in that 15 they sat a 3 top and a 4 top. Not telling them that they were short staffed or that there would be a wait. So now we are getting upset. They probably had continued to seat people the entire time we were on the waitlist and then they sat two tables while we were told to wait. We finally left and went to eat at Rumor Has It, where we received excellent service and great burgers. This experience, with the incredibly poor custoner service, really soured us on ever returning again. As three ladies dressed nicely with kids, also dressed nicely, we felt discriminated against and we had no idea why. Perhaps the kids, but the other tables they sat before us had kids. So I don't know what her problem was with our group.More

My husband and I enjoy brick oven pizza, and this did not disappoint. We ordered a meatball appetizer, and these meatballs are as good as any I have had on The Hill in St. Louis. We shared a pepperoni pizza and bread that we dipped...in olive oil. It was all delicious. The restaurant is small, so the tables and booths are very close together. A party of four sat next to us, and they couldn’t have been any louder. If the table had been a bit farther away from our booth, that would have been much better. Once they left, we enjoyed everything about the restaurant. The inconsiderate patrons are no reflection on the restaurant other than they need more room. The restaurant itself is clean and well maintained. We would definitely return to eat there if we are in Hannibal again.More
