Had lunch on a rainy Saturday with granddaughter. She had a great grilled cheese with avocado sandwich. I had a not so great Greek salad that was too heavily loaded with salty olives & peppers, and the chicken was dry and chewy. The "lunch counter...cafe" setting was not real pleasant as the counter was stacked with "stuff" and the table skirt had dried food on it. Also, be ready to climb many stairs to find you way to the cafe.More

My husband uses a walker and even though the lunch is upstairs, immediately a staff person invited us to sit on the main floor and we quickly received a menu and excellent service there. The menu was so full of attractive offerings it was hard...to make up our minds but our sandwich and mac n cheese were both delicious. It adjoins a lovely gift shop and is a candy store as well. What's not to love?More

B E W A R E!!!!!!!$$$$$$$ The sandwiches were pricey, but very good and filling - service was very attentive. HOWEVER, the candy counter, downstairs, is running a shell game. 2 of the cabinets of candy were price marked, one was not. We asked if...it was ALL the same price per pound (a hefty $16.95/lb) and she said yes. We made our selection. When I got the total, I was confused by the high number. Back in the car, I checked the receipt - one of the 2 bags was $33.00/lb!!! When I called they just said 'oh yeah that cabinet is $33.00' ....I told them they needed to indicate as much, the girl on the phone made it clear she could not care less.More

Was really looking forward to a great breakfast after reading reviews. Our experience was awful! The pancakes were so thin and overcooked, they were barely edible. Eggs ordered over medium had rock hard yolks…as did the gentleman at the best table. He sent his back...and waited 15 minutes for replacements! For $40, I would’ve expected better.More

Donker’s was a great stop on our northern college tour. We walked from our hotel and enjoyed a wonderful breakfast! It is piece of Marquette history that has been preserved!!

My veggie wife loved that someone had taken the bother to put a Vegtable Hash on the BF menu. It was excellent, as was my Steak Hash. Coffee was good and my son enjoyed the six silver dollar pancakes. Excellent. Would recommend you eat here...when in Marquett.More

Cute old building. Great food & service. I had the garden hash (I think that’s what it was called - not on the menu I see online). Perfect hash browns with grilled zucchini, broccoli, tomatoes and onions. Just had to order without the pesto mayo...& eggs to make it vegan. Really good locally sourced jam. Lots of locally sourced items on the menu. My non-vegan husband loved his food, too. Updated from previous review on 2023-05-13More

Food was rotten. Chicken was grey and tasted like blood. Lettuce was rotten. Soup was water with chunks of canned tomatoes. At least the waiter was nice, food not so much.

Organic-minded and mostly hand-made foods. Chocolate bar downstairs is great. Nice deli syle clib sandwich and rye breads.

This is what an $11.00 sandwich looks like. 2 thin slices of white bread, toasted, 2 Tablespoons of tuna, American cheese. Hardly what a good tuna melt would be considered.

The sandwiches and food in general are average, but the old chocolate store in front looks like it stepped out of 1920, which I believe it did.

My husband and I had breakfast and it was good but nothing special. I thought their prices were high. Service was just average. Their tip “recommendations” scale on theie receipt was 20%, 22%, 25%. I know that is only a suggestion but for me it...is an arrogant statement. When I see that my max tip is automatically 15%, especially if I feel the food is over priced.More

So the candy shop on the ground floor will get you in, but you should stay for lunch! I had a delicious BLT and chicken soup that was home made and very good! My darlin' ordered a salad and I got some of that as...well! The candy is too over the top, you won't walk out w/o chocolate! I also was pleased to see an autographed picture of President Obama who had visited at one time. . . . Great place in downtown Marquette.More

No beer or wine but chocolate and phosphates. A better place locally for beer and wine is the Ore Docks and Sol Azteca.
