Lunchtime, so it was pretty busy. Almost no wait to place an order, though, and the food came quickly. Gotta say, we were pleased. I had clam strips which came with fries. Seemed like new oil, so everything tasted fresh. And the breading on the...clam strips was light and cooked very well. Right up there with the best I have ever had. My wife had a BLT. Quite good and with crispy bacon, which she likes. Came on a Kaiser roll which is a bit odd. She wished it had been toasted bread, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. And, as others have said, the wait staff was exceptionally friendly and, yes, the whole place is really, really clean. Highly recommend if you are looking for a good sandwich and fried food place.More

Been going here for years whenever in this area of Maine. The beading on the fried items is very clean & the seafood always tastes fresh. We also had a double meat lobster roll this visit. Lobster was tasty, but we prefer our lobster rolls...served hot dog bun style, the serve theirs almost like open face sandwich style.More

It was great to see the staff at the Shack! It was for takeout as their dining area was closed. The food was hot, great tasting and enough for two meals. The staff was very pleasant as always. Very much appreciated!

Need a quick lunch while on the road? This is the perfect stop. The service is quick. The menu has tasty soups and excellent cole slaw. My favorite is the chicken sandwich. So fresh and seasoned just right with chunks of chicken. I only wish...they’d use more paper products with their take-out orders, less wasteful.More

Small order at counter & seat yourself place. Been having the best fried clam baskets anywhere for a long time now. Batter & clam sizes are amazing! Must stop place every time I’m in central Maine.

I have to agree with the others about the lobster roll. It was one of the worst I've ever eaten, especially in MAINE. We are known globally for our lobster and lobster rolls but the Snack Shacks lobster roll is so not representational of a...good Maine lobster roll. The lobster was hot, it made the mayo hot and the plain, untoasted bun soggy. There was no where near enough lobster in it to charge $12.00, more lettuce than lobster. Very, very disappointing, almost inedible, and I would advise anyone to save their money and get a real Maine lobster roll down to the coast.More

This was our second visit to Snack Shack in ten years. On our rare visits to Skowhegan we usually go to Taco Bell. On our first visit, the pea soup I ordered arrived as condensed soup out of the can to which no water had...been added. Fast forward many years to a discussion in the car about whether to try Snack Shack again. We decided to try it again, avoiding ordering any soup. We both ordered burgers this time, along with a large order of onion rings. The food came quickly. Since the onion rings were piping hot from the fryer, I started on my cheeseburger. The patty was quite thin and didn't taste like beef. Maybe it had been around a while? Turning attention to the onion rings, they were coated with batter that had a slightly sweet undertaste, probably more suitable for use on seafood. We might have eaten 20% of the platter before we both pronounced them inedible. They wound up in the rubbish. We are not planning to make a third visit to Snack Shack. We could have spent less money at McDonald's or Burger King and had far superior food.More

The place was clean and neat and friendly. We ordered lobster roll. 11.50 each. Lobster had been frozen and thawed so it was kinda clammy...and room temp. Too much mayonnaise and not fresh...had been made up ahead of time so the mayo was all we...could taste. It was cloying. We watched the other types of seafood come out and the difference was night and day. It looked very appetizing.More

I really wanted to like the Snack Shack. The restaurant was very clean. With all the deep frying going on there wasn't the smell of grease or greasy coating on everything. Service was quick, prices were reasonable and there was a wide variety of choices...on the menu. They also offer several portions options which is a nice touch. I ordered a chicken tender and fried shrimp "snack pack" for about $10. The food was hot and presented well. They put some kind of coating on their fries and I enjoyed those but the chicken and shrimp were just okay. The batter was flavorless and it just wasn't a meal I would do again. I'm not sure about the other items here, but if I did go back, I wouldn't get anything fried again. Note also that they're not open on Sundays.More

Plain dinning room area. The fried food had very little flavoring; frankly bland. Service was quick, but they never checked back. The place is very clean

Best chicken baskets in Maine if you ask me! Always has some homemade lunch or dinner offerings like cabbage rolls with real mashed potatoes and more as specials. Great tasting food, very little "grease", clean environment, will cater to your needs, amazing staff and the...bakery items are to die for! Love this place and love their homemade soups as well. Family friendly prices. Highly recommended by this patron!More
