It was extremely crowded on Saturday night, but is always the food is delicious. You need to try their coleslaw and pickled onions.
Went there with friends on a Saturday evening. The restaurant was very busy. We were seated quickly. Service was friendly and accurate. Food was ok. Served cornbread and slaw as appetizer. Nice touch! Slaw tasted good. Food was good, but nothing unusual or outstanding. We...had fried catfish and fried shrimp. Friends had seafood platter. The restaurant was rather noisy.More
This restaurant is known for its catfish and seafood platters. Every meal comes with plenty of fixings and trimmings. I had the ribeye steak, which I would not recommend. An old Chinese proverb says, “Never go to a catfish place an order steak!” Great service...with plenty of help on hand. The service was fast with very little waiting. I would highly recommend this restaurant.More
Had a group of 15. They got us in quickly. Food was great. Love the cornbread and coleslaw they initially bring you. We had the fish Riverboat special. Had a side of the greens. Yum. Service was outstanding. Highly recommended.
I am completely shocked that this Resturant has such good reviews. It smells bad inside, it is dirty and the food is fair. We found a hidden gem 2 doors down C&J’s that blows this place away! Top of the river needs to change the...name to dragged from the bottom of the river.👎🏼More
Top of the River has the best slaw and cornbread anywhere. My friends and family also love the turnip greens and fried pickles. We usually get the Riverboat special and share it since we fill up on appetizers. They also have combo meals where you...can get your choice of 2-3 meats and a side, which is also great for sharing, so you’re both happy. It’s best to come early because they are always packed and waitingMore
This restaurant, a long time Gadsden icon, serves great food across a diverse menu, but the catfish is their best offering! We usually get the fried fillets and they are oh so good! The pieces are just the right size, and NO BONES! The filets...are always very tender and not over cooked. They serve tea in those large glasses like in classic restaurants of days gone by. You will enjoy cornbread, cole slaw and pickled onions served family style, so bring an appetite. If available, ask for a table with a view of the Coosa River. Then sit back and enjoy a wonderful meal!More
There are now five 'Top of the River' restaurants, we ate at the one in Gadsden, AL. Excellent catfish and a variety of other seafood. They also serve burgers and steaks. Dinners come with a plate 'appetizer' pan of cornbread, Cole slaw and pickled onions....We added their famous and very very tasty greens as a table side dish. You won't go away hungry and the service is great. Price depends on what you order, but their daily catfish plate special for $16 filled me up and I'm an enthusiastic eater.More
Super good food super friendly staff and most importantly super friendly treatments of people with disabilities and the need for service dog I will recommend the restaurant to anyone traveling looking for a good place to.eat
When I looked at this restaurant I was thinking a classic dining experience on the river. The size and rustic enviroment took me by surprise, however, the service, the food and the pricing certainly made our evening a success. Watching the ducks from our river...side booth added to the overall enjoyment. Excellent food, friendly service and very reasonable pricing all combined for a well enjoyed meal. While this NOT five star, it is a local and very enjoyable place for dinner.More
Always good food and fast service at Top O the River. Great catfish, grilled chicken and greens! We always love the cornbread and cole slaw to start!
Atmosphere was fun, fried food platters included catfish. Chowder was ok. I was too tired to enjoy it all!
Great Food! Great service! The proportions were big and plentiful. I had the steak and it was mouthwatering. My daughter had the shrimp and she loved it. Very great place and was my first time there.
My husband and I were traveling through Alabama and stopped by for some “Alabama seafood”. We are glad we did! Great Catfish . . . Good French Fries . . . Tasty Margaritas. We were also blessed to have Presley as our server. She was...super attentive and sweet!More
