After trying out Mediterranean, Italian, Chinese & continental for five days me & my wife were so glad to have nice vegetarian food here
It was my first time having Indian food, as the chief Ashish has launched a new menu. We had Chicken butter and Bryani that was very tasty and the chief offered us a special dessert called Nimish "must try"
It was Monday night so relatively quiet as I expected it would be. Sat in front of a long glass fronted kitchen so you could see the chefs at work. The pickle/sauce tray that came with the various popadoms was excellent. Even better was the...first course of effectively shik kebab. But not on skewers. Lovely little lamb pates with saffron mini buns with a zingy mint sauce. Outstanding. The main course chicken masala was good but the star of the show was the mixed Dahl. Out of this world. Service from the waiters was first class throughout including the chef coming over a few times to check all was well. All in all a very good experience.More
Sadly some of the worst Indian food I have had. The restaurant was empty and I should have figured out why!!
For a treat or special occasion, this place rocks. Extremely tasty, innovative and superbly presented food matched with attentive, friendly service. Not cheap, but you get what you pay for here.
Absolutely fab food. Lovely waiters that helped find my way around the Indian kitchen. Hope to be back!
I do Suggest anybody who loves Indian food to try at least once here. U will enjoy for sure. The taste of Cheese Naan is fresh and very delicious. Butter chicken is very original. But not that much hot for non Indian people. The price...is acceptable. The place is nice and calm. Staffs are super polite, helpful and warm. U can enjoy the time there.More
We had the privilege to eat at Ananta @ The Oberoi, Dubai on August 15th 2019. As Indian cuisine is my firm favourite, I was beyond excited to experience the perfect marriage of traditional and contemporary Indian cuisine-as promised by Ananta. We were not to...be disappointed. Never before had we been indulged with such a consummate balance of innovation & excitement with fervent commitment to authenticity and provenance. Each dish felt like we were being endowed with what you would imagine as being a millennia worth of Indian teachings in process and preparation of food combined with the sophistication and imagination of a single individual: this individual is Head Chef Saneesh Varghese. Saneesh takes those celebrated Indian dishes we all adore and elevates them to considerable degrees of sophistication and competence. Once you actually swallow a given bite, the depths and congruence of flavours continue churning and developing in your mouth. The balance is undeniable-your palette is at once assaulted by this cacophony of flavours that are striking, exciting, yet beautifully congruent and balanced. This is surely the truest indication of authentic Indian cuisine: where heat ad spice is balanced in such an unmitigated manner. The result is a rounded, intoxicating marriage of the most considerately prepared spices. Every dish surpassed the next. My personal favourites were the deep fried lady fingers, aloo tikki and pea and mint samosa-each executed with a wondrous delicateness and lightness, a million miles from some of the ghee laden, heavy offerings I’ve endured in the past. I genuinely felt I could eat this food all night and still step away from the table light footed. Testament to the commitment to provenance already indicated, we had the opportunity to sample a series of traditional “street-food” dishes on our night at Ananta. These deliciously decadent offerings were matched with Indian produced wine pairings, further lending itself to our experience of authentic Indian cuisine. Each dish, each course was presented and curated so intelligently and interestingly by the restaurant staff, who kept us enthralled with their explanation of the ingredients and processes involved in the creation of these dishes. Their knowledge was so impressive and interesting to listen to, we genuinely felt privileged to experience the whole theatre that is Ananta. However, if it’s novelty, fad or spectacle you’re after, Ananta is not the place for you! From the moment you walk through its doors, you’ll be enveloped in a sense of old world refinery and decorum. The table linen and delph is so considered and majestic, you won’t be under any illusion other than that you have arrived in a world class restaurant that whilst reserved, is unapologetic in its reverence. A meal at Ananta is truly a memorable experience, and one that you will find it very hard to surpass.More
Recently we had a north indian thali here.... This place is wonderful . You can also order food of your choice.
All the fine dining restaurants in Dubai, irrespective of cuisine, is high on taste, and ananta is no exception. However, we found the prices of food particularly on steeper side as compared to other fine dining options. Situated on level 2 of The Oberoi, the...decor is simple n chic and the place small but intimate. For non vegetarians the must try starter should be their galouti kebab( minced lamb Patty flavoured with spices and served with small buns) also happens to be their signature dish. Don't be fooled by the smaller portions. It's heavy, tasty n filling. We tried Murgh kurchan n saffron rice as the main course and both were high on taste. The chef, we were informed, previously worked for ITC Bukhara. Erring on the side of adventure we tried their signature dessert- fried Malai kulfi served with passion fruit coulis and gulab jamun crumble. To be honest I disliked it and opted for the more traditional pistachio kulfi. For a more bold palette it might work. They have array of cocktails n drinks but we had to face disappointment when we opted for guava Mary. The guava nectar was not available. Overall a good experience but not wow. Will I be visiting this place again for post modern Indian cuisine? Not so sure.More
Featured on the main hotel lobby floor, Ananta is a cozy formal dining restaurant featuring elevated Indian cuisine. New chef Sreejith Nair takes detailed consideration to both his flavor profiles and his plating to present a lovely dining experience all palettes can enjoy. The dining...space features floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the hotel's glass enclosed interior greenhouse garden. Look to the left for a glass-enclosed kitchen space where several chefs cook over open flame. The cutlery silverware is gold-tone plated with tables covered in white linen styled with a red runner detailed in gold design. Tables are set with gold chargers, linen napkins and floating flower centerpiece. The meal began with two edible menus, sprinkled with a dried spicy pickled mango, a curiously playful beginning. A sweet, fruity and well carbonated sangria was a delightful treat, rimmed with a orange slice that enhanced each sip. Chef Sreejith Nair visited tableside with an opening street-to-table choud froid: a "medley of hot potato and green pea samousa with cold textures of yogurt". The experience was enhanced by his use of dry ice to create a frozen yogurt experience followed by a presentation of hand-mixing and plating. The experience and the flavors were both delightful, with the dish itself as a warm tradition paired with a cool crunch. Next, a petite glass espresso cup rimmed in gold was placed on the charger in front of me. It smelled of truffles! The Madras Truffle Coffee was a well presented, bold flavored taste that paired well with the flow of flavors. The seafood course did not disappoint. The Prawns with Szechuan and Black Pepper was plated as fine dining would expect: two crunchy, well seasoned prawns surrounded by colorful cut peppers and topped with a mesh rice crisp. The flavor profile had a kick, the texture had a crunch and the bite was complete satisfaction. A quick shot of sweet saffron, milk, cardamom and apple bits was presented in a un-glazed ceramic cup over ice. Don't sell this moment short, because I thoroughly enjoyed the quick sip. Two succulent pieces of well seasoned tender boneless chicken, glazed in a medium heat with a ripe mango chip. This sauce in absolutely lovely and the presentation is perfection. The Nimbu Pani Snow began as a refreshing cool moment and finished with a surprising kick of spice. I wasn't prepared and found myself shocked and laughing. The two dishes I would consider "safe" menu items are the Ananta Classic Ravioli and the Tandoori Chicken, as they both would please a general number of International palettes and don't present the palette with anything too bold in any direction. The delicate raviolis are served in a butter sauce with lentils. The texture is a juxtaposition of crunch and smooth textures. This dish is rich without being overwhelmingly filling. The chicken was well seasoned and perfectly cooked. The sauce was smooth and creamy over the crunchy skin. The accompanying asparagus was plated strategically around the chicken which was another testament to the chef's detail. The meal was completed with a warm Jamun Strudel accompanied with saffron ice cream. Delicious! Second visit to this restaurant and once again excellent food and remarkable service, very comfortable surroundings
Had heard a lot about Ananta and recently was able to go there with a friend for a lunch. Nice easy going setting and friendly waiter was a good start. The menu has good options on both starters and main course. What I liked was...that for an option we were considering we were offered the dish that was not on the menu. The food was good all through, genuine on the cuisine and tasty! Service remained good all through making it a thoroughly enjoyable lunch! Would love to go back again!More
