Came across here just by fluke. Superb. Lovely position and great views from upstairs too if downstairs full. Really lovely people and good quality food at reasonable pricing. Just a few metres further along the front than many of the places
We ate here on our last night in portovenere and the food was great. 3 of my family members are coeliac and eat gluten free, we explained this to the staff and they were very understanding and helpful. The ham and melon was delicious as...was the calamari, both great naturally gluten free options. Would definitely recommend this restaurant for the food and the views.More
Woah! Portions of tasty seafood were very generous for 2 - but gorgeous. Don’t be put off by ‘liquorice’ seafood gnocchi - I don’t like allsorts either - and it might sound weird but was sensational!
The experience was totally underwhelming- service is non existent The food was disappointing although part of that was our choice - grilled prawns which were crayfish and not great for 25 e and my wife's dish was scampi with penne - scampi non existent -...penne I would say rubbery Hardly eaten but no query as to why we hadn't eaten most of it We had eaten at 2 adjacent restaurants and they were great - good service - good food We are not habitual complainers but we were pleased to exit this restaurantMore
Ended up eating here twice at the end of our walking holiday, lovely setting overlooking the harbour.Staff were pleasant and welcoming and always eager to assist. All our food choices were excellent (all fish ) supported by some excellent wine choices. Lovely ambiance.
Ignored us completely, asked twice for a table they just showed me a finger and let us waiting, when finnaly gave us a dirty table left us waiting for 15 min without asking us if we want to serve anything, than came to give as...forks but than said no and left them on a different table. After 20 min waiting we left. Absolutely disgrace. If you don't speak italian they won't even notice you!More
Although I have come to this restaurant since I was a child, it is the first time I’m writing a review about it, maybe because somehow I feel it as home. The location is impressive and the food is delicious. Staff is very kind and...helpful. I celebrated here my PhD party with my family and some colleagues in a beautiful Sunday of May and we had a great time.More
We ate here on our first evening in Portovenere after a 14-year absence and enjoyed it. Good seafood and relatively attentive service. I would eat here again.
Nice place in a tourist setting - menue does NOT offer the "tourist menu". The food and the service were great, however some waiters dont speak englisha nd come across as really grumpy. Apart form the that very nice environment and taste grandma's cake -...to die for.More
We had a great time at this restaurant. Our server was excellent and made suggestions for our boys. The food was very good and tasty.
We visited this restaurant in September 2019 and honestly to this day still talk about how much we loved the Scampi Gnocchi for 2 that we ordered. The waiter was absolutely lovely and although he didn't speak much english, we thought it added to the...experience - as they say, a smile speaks 100 languages and goes so far. If you are visiting portovenere, I really recommend visiting this quaint little restaurant and having the option to sit outside watching the water was a real dream.More
Town is quieter than during summer months, but restaurant was open. Excellent meal at reasonable price.
Started off badly when we arrived and saw an empty table for two. We asked whether it was free and got told "Wait!". We didn't know whether that meant yes and couldn't get the waiter's attention to clarify. Anyway, it was available. Starters were really...nice. For main, we ordered the scampi gnocchi, which we'd rather have one of and share but they only did for two people, not sure why. It was really disappointing - the scampi had virtually no meat within it and the sauce wasn't too special. We'd never had fresh scampi before so at first thought it was our poor choice, but in subsequent meals at other restaurants, we saw scampi which looked far fatter than we got here. Service was a little surly but the sparkling rose wine was lovely.More
We have been regular customers of Elettra for some years and have enjoyed their food - and have previously posted positive reviews on this site - so our experience last evening was particularly disappointing. Having specifically booked a table for four on the terrace in...front of the restaurant we appeared at the appointed hour only to be told there were no tables available - and that their policy had changed and you can now only book upstairs - inside. This we had not been told at the time of booking and as we’d already eaten there three times on visits to Portovenere this summer it came as a surprise. We were treated in a very offhand manner and told we could either wait or take a table inside. We agreed to see the table and found it a brightly lit very cheerless room without any of the charm of the terrace. We were shown to a table beside a closed window but requested another beside an open window (it was a hot, still night) only to be told that table was for five people - so take it or leave it. My wife politely expressed disappointment that long-standing customers should be treated this way, and rather than the expected apology she received a very curt reply from the head waiter that her attitude was unwarranted and unhelpful. These people couldn’t care less about their customers - the young head waiter was arrogant rude and unhelpful. If his manner had been in any way apologetic I would not be writing this review. I strongly recommend that diners do not book here - you risk being sent upstairs (the only place you can book) to a cheerless brightly lit canteen. We managed to find a table at Il Timone where we were made so welcome and were so well fed that we’ve now no need for the arrogant head waiter at Elettra. It’s often the way that restaurants in prime positions feel they do not need to try so hard to fill their tables as those tucked away from the noisy centre. There are restaurants around the corner but still on the sea front who welcome and value their customers.More
