When I visit Tokyo, I make a point to have the Blueberry Pie from Gargantua at least once during our stay! Their bread, pastries, and packaged curry make great gifts, too!

Gargantua is a well-known French style bakery with the best Mont Blanc pastry, blueberry or apple pie ever! We always purchase bread and pastries for friends and family here!
I just love browsing here all the time but their breads, pastries, chocolate and cakes are great tasting too. They even have sandwiches, soups, light meals if you'd like to take them out. It's always full of people buying things there.
I'm not a sweets person so I just went in with my friends who were really excited and could not decide what to try. The first day I bought nothing despite the fact that everything looked amazing. The second day I bought my first sweet...- a cheesecake and this was the beginning of a love affair that could unfortunately only last during my stay in Tokyo... Everyday I would get a different sweet on my way to the room. Imagine if I liked sweets... Guests of the hotel get discount coupons for the shop as well. I now regret not using them during my previous visits :-)More
This was so popular with all Guests that I saw, as I browsed in there. I did purchase some patisseries and some apple pies for a snack. So good. They bake every day and that is the attraction. Also plate up ready to eat meals...that they can microwave for you to take to your room. But I did not try that. Maybe next time, as I will return.More
By staying at the Imperial Hotel, guests will get a discount when you buy things from here. Bon Appetit!
This luxury bakery is situated within the Imperial Hotel Complex in Tokyo. The cookies, pasrty goods and many other sweets, including some of the most colourful macaroons, are available for sale and the locals and the visitors seem to be unable to resist the goodies...offered.More
I was between tours when I discovered Gargantua in the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. They have a good selection of pastries to choose from. It is a shop that has a pastry counter and you may also buy alcoholic drinks here and some other food...and gift items here. I has a raspberry millefeuille which is a French pastry with layers of puff pastry, cream, and fruit, usually strawberries or in this case raspberries. It was very light and delicate. They also sell multicoloured eclairs. I noticed a lot of pastry places in Japan produced French inspired pastries, including tarts, fraisiers, etc.More
It's the Imperial Hotel's delicatessen for a start, so you'd find chilled soups to takeaway, canned delicacies like foie gras, champagne and wine, chocolates... but at the heart, it's a really good patisserie with a wide selection of bakes and pastries. The croissants and Danish...are delicious - I had a yummy pumpkin Danish. Wife had her favorite Japanese cake called a Mont Blanc: pureed sweetened chestnut (kuri) topped with whipped cream - out of this world. And the way they packed the takeaway rivals Tiffany when you buy an engagement ring :-) exquisite - great for bringing home a box of biscuits or chocs after a busy biz trip. Google their website if you want to know why it's called Gargantua...More
Needed a sweet fix. Had gone to their 7-11store but nothing caught you sweet craving. Then I remembered this place in the hotel so I went.to get my sweet fix. Purchased a nice cream puff and took back to the room and it was very...tasty and good Hit the spotMore
Very good breads! The champagne gelatine fruit cups are delicious! Service fast, efficient and kind.
Nice shop to visit if you are staying at Imperial hotel and wanted to grab some souvenir to bring home or some deserts to eat. They also sell Hibiki whiskey that is hard to find in local grocery or liqueur store due to it's popularity.
best Tokyo has to offer for old school charm. ambience is ok, food just mediocre, but the feeling in the area is charming.
We always make a point of buying a blueberry pie or Mont Blanc pastry at least once, we think better than Paris (and, for us, that is saying something!).
If you want a last minute quality gift to take back to friends, family or work colleagues then this is the place. Many gifts are local products or products used in the hotel. All are beautifully wrapped. The downside is the prices which are pretty...hefty. If you are staying in the hotel then you will be entitled to a discount.More
