This is a very nice hotel. Although it isn't super flash, it has everything needed for a comfortable stay. Our room was smallish with a very comfortable king-size bed. There is a kitchen area with fridge, microwave and induction cooktop, crockery, cutlery, etc. The staff are top rate. Special thanks to Maricris for all her great work. Best of all, it is central to all of Newtowns' wonderful cafes, restaurants, bars & shops.

Total dump. Great location but this was the smallest room I’ve ever stayed in. The room was so small that there was no room for the TV to be in front of the bed - it was parallel to the bed. Overpriced & no amenities - definitely not 4 stars. Spending any time in this room would drive me mad - and definitely couldn’t work there. Never again.

Stayed here with my family on a Monday night, we booked direct with the hotel but didn’t get any of the special offers (late check out etc etc). The beds were all rock solid - my arms got pins & needles all night and woke up with sore shoulders which sucked. It was also HOT, the was aircon in the TV area and not the bedrooms so we had aircon on and doors open which was sufficient for the bunk beds room but not the other room at all. There was also no fans so it was hot and still all night. The floors were plastic and the TV area/lounge area has the worst hardest plastic lounges, we couldn’t utilise this space. I guess it makes sense for a dog friendly hotel - which we weren’t aware of on booking, good for dogs but not so good for humans as it was the most uncomfortable place we’ve ever stayed. It was quite expensive for a Monday night as well. There was someone in the room above us jumping around in the early AM’s, so would recommend earbuds for those who like a sleep. Positives were locality and friendly staff. Wouldn’t stay here again - unless I had my dogs with me instead of my humans!

Room Tip: Beds and lounges etc hard and actually painful. Bedrooms were not air conditioned in the 3 bed...

Great value for money in a great location. Very close to the station and the bohemian style neighbourhood is awesome. Vegan food, Turkish food, Greek food, Tasmanian steak, pizza, pretty much everything Staff are pleasant and the references to street art inside the hotel were great.

Hotel was central to Newtown which is what we wanted. Room was basic but clean. Was a little overpriced but we stayed on a busy weekend. Don’t often write reviews but had to leave a review about the main , I think was a king size , bed. Was so uncomfortable and hard. If you have back issues I would not recommend sleeping here. I raised my concerns with the front desk in check out and was told that all the beds are that hard and she likes the beds that hard. I said it was literally the hardest bed I have slept on and I had shoulder and back pain from sleeping there and she was just dismissive saying that all the beds are like that. Amenities were basic and a little run down but I expected that to a point .

I was greeted by a nice young man, and made to feel welcome , the communication is excellent , Sadly though, the room was extremely noisy, being right on a main road, WHY spend good money on a room renovation and leave out double glazing and Noise protection ?? If you like the sound of load traffic and planes, you won't mind this place . The rubber flooring is a bit odd, but the feel is industrial and I am a little older.. Housekeeping need to provide a clean iron, board and pay more attention to bathroom cleaning , and de-scale kettles . I was lucky to be able to iron a black shirt

The hallway smelled of bleach, as did the room. I gave them the benefit of the doubt, opening the windows as much as possible (which was barely anything), left the aircon fan running all day and bought a reed diffuser. This did not rid the horrible intoxicating smell of cleaning product from the room. The cutlery was also dirty. When eating my lunch, i got a horrible taste of chemicals, which i now realise was from the plate and not the food. The rooms were also incredibly noisy and I was barely able to sleep. I have been left with a nasty headache and have had to rebook to a new hotel. I would definitely NOT recommend wasting your time with this hotel, unless you want to be huffing on fumes.

Staff polite and helpful. Room ok. Bed comfortable. TV free to air only. Traffic noise bad but bearable. Seems to be next to a hostel for the homeless. Glad such exist but from 1am till 4.30 am there was a woman screaming and singing drunkenly outside. So loud that on the 4th floor with double glazed windows closed it was really loud. Finally quietened down after she had 30 minutes of abusing the police. It's certainly urban. The air quality is terrible in Newtown.

The Urban Newtown is in the perfect location when it comes to transport, entertainment and food. I stayed while they did renovations and it wasn’t an issue at all. I was on a business trip, so out all day. Now here are the downsides of things for me. I booked the urban as it mentioned they had parking, however staff and construction workers took up that space and I had to park in a secure parking 🅿️ space a walk down the road. This was an inconvenience as I had to carry things back and forth everyday, with an injury to my arm and shoulder this wasn’t idea. Carrying heavy items is not helpful. The street out front is a non parking signed area and the back streets are littered with private cars taking up space in the small streets. My next issue was the beds. Worst beds ever. If you like a hard bed that feels like sleeping on the floor you might enjoy this, however it made my nights very uncomfortable and due to an injury to my arm and shoulder this did not help. The room I was in was very narrow and it made it hard to walk past a suitcase I had nowhere to keep. To access the bed you had to climb over to the other side. Not a big issue if you don’t share the bed but when my partner joined me this wasn’t ideal. Climbing over your partner in the middle of the night to use the bathroom was not my idea of fun. Now one positive for the dog friendly families, they did allow dogs to stay at the hotel. They also had an indoor/outdoor feel with living plants in the middle of the rooms. It’s very urban when it comes to the outlay. If you can put up with a hard bed and no parking this place will be enjoyable for you. However for me I give this place a 3/5. Also they need a toaster in each room and the shower took forever to work out. Too hot, too cold.

Comfy and tidy place. Stayed for four nights in a three bed room with my partner and a friend of ours to see some gigs at the metro theatre, super convenient spot right in the heart of all the fun stuff in Newtown and Enmore, had a blast. Wasn’t spare parking available for my dates but the staff were super helpful and pointed out some streets where I could find some untimed parking. I extended our booking by a night and there was a display issue with the new invoice automatically generated, after flagging this with the team they were happy to honour the lower price as a courtesy which is really appreciated. Rooms are quiet aside from the occasional ambulance, etc. screaming by - can’t really be helped given the location, heard barely any internal noise - occasionally some crowds wandering by as we were street facing. Keen to stay here again on our next trip, can’t beat the location, friendly staff and reasonable pricing!
