Cecilia's Lodge was our savior inn when we were looking for a place to crash in Tacloban City, and all hotels were either too pricey or booked during that night (I believe there was a huge seminar held in town that's why all hotels are booked). As we were walking around Paterno Street, we noticed this old house that looks like a 1960s dormitory. The gate was open, there were no guards whatsoever, but the landlady was at the lobby. We asked her to show us an available room. Options offered were ordinary rooms with fan and communal CR at PhP1,000.00, and air-conditioned rooms with own CR PhP1,500.00. We chose the latter. Manang was a little cranky, like the usual Lola of whom we were afraid of when we were kids, but an attendant entertained us with the rest of our questions and needs. The attendant was kind enough to let us stay in the room without additional charges, since there were three of us and the room that we got was ideally for two people only. Our room comes with an air-conditioning unit, cabled TV, wi-fi, and comfort room (No water heater, but with shower). We checked in at around 7PM. Contrary to the usual 12-noon checkout, they let us check out at 4PM (since our flight was at 6PM the next day, and we wanted to leave our things in our room while exploring the City.) Upon checkout, the attendant also helped us hire a car that will bring us to the Airport for P350.00. There were cheaper options such as tricycles or jeepneys, but since only two of us will carry two huge baggage, we opted for a comfortable ride. If you are not that picky and into homey-vibed and old-fashioned rooms, Cecilia's would be a good choice for you in the City.…

They have ok beds. the aircon was ok but not cold at all. They have a curfew but ample common bathrooms. Room is ok for budget travellers but it is not that clean. I found a couple of cockroaches. The shower isn't working as expected but it works.

You won't immediately recognize this cos it doesn't have an info lobby. It's just a house with a small signage and a big closed gate. I did not really checked in but I came to ask an old lady who gave me the stern look. She said she could not accommodate me cos no one will open the gate at 4 a.m. (my flight was 6 a.m.) Just that and she walked away she did not even bother opening the gate. Im assuming u arent allowed the night life, too cos no one can open the gate at night. lol. No partners allowed unless they're married. I say the place is very conservative. It's the cheapest decent place though at 150 pesos per night. It's not a hotel so dont expect anything. I'd like to check in though so I could see what's inside. :-)
