Stayed for 4 days as first timer. Very close to Kitanomine Gondola station, bus stop. Hostel as kitchen facility, many people cooked their own meal. Great location for ski. They offer many kinds of tour, friendly staff.

December through to January 2017-18. Our family of four stayed in Alpine for just over 4 weeks. It was great! Yes there's many things that could make it better but, this is a backpackers, it's Japan and if you have a high expectation you'll be disappointed, however were never disappointed. The facilities are adequate and the service is excellent and the location at Kitanomine ideal. One of the things we enjoyed the most was our fellow skiers also basing themselves here at Alpine.

Located at the foot of the ski hill, about 2.5 km from the train and bus station. A local bus goes all the way there (but it's not so frequent). The place probably hasn't changed much since the 80s (!): everything feels very old and used, but it has a certain charm (reminded of my school's ski trips when I was a kid). Front desk lady was nice and spoke a little English. Good wifi. Heater in the room. Neat little onsen on location (which I had all to myself since the hostel wasn't crowded)! Was upgraded to a 2-bed dorm that I had all to myself. Lack of eating options in the area in the off-season. Open shared showers (i.e. zero privacy - could be a major issue for people not comfortable being nude in front of others), and onsen is in the same room as the showers. Soundproofing not so great.…

I really like this place, despite being out of season having a slightly The Shinningesque feel to it, as one night there was only two of us here. The beds are really comfy, after weeks in hostels with thin futon mattresses. Good kitchen, living room and piping hot baths. It's quite a way from the train station and though there is a bus service these are only occasional. Overall, I really like the feel of the place, and especially Furano. It's surrounded by mountains and thanks to the great help from Lucy in the tourist info centre, I had a brilliant day with a car - not extortionate - and driving round to some stunning locations. There's a road that winds itself up and down right below the mountain range via a 360 degree observatory, numerous onsens, including the magical and free Fukiage Onsen. Plus, there's a great farmers shop of local goods that make for tasty meals.…

Cheap accommodation, with bunk beds, shared bathroom. The place was homey, clean and comfy beds too. However it can get abit noisy when there are kids around, as rooms are not soundproof. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped us to file a complaint when a cab driver cheated our money. (It was not successful in retrieving back the money as the cab driver had gone on leave the next day)

Unbelivable the weather over 35 degree in summer. You can imagine if no air condition and only have thick matress in room how to lived. Extremely "HOT" ...Most terrible things the smelly room, like a dog longer time no bath smell. Everything old, kitchen very messy. All provided activity photoes does not from Alpine. Any activity you need to go by yourself without any pick up services. Far away if take taxi to go activity place. Never choose again. Because many good hostel in furano is better than alpine.

We were plagued by bad weather in Furano - so most of the time we spent in the town was actually cozing up by the fireplace and watching old Disney VCR's in Alpine Backpackers. The staff's level of English was not so great - but they were very lovely and we didn't really care and just enjoyed the cozy and homely feel of the hostel. The in-house onsen was lovely, the wi-fi was fantastic and local restaurants near by were also really nice. Whenever I return to Hokkaido and do a ski-trip in Furano, I will most definitely stay here again!

Stayed in this accommodation in July with my sister. We got upgraded to 2 bunk-beds room for our stay. The location is quite good, in the middle of 2 bus stops of the Lavender-Go bus. There is a 7-11 nearby too. The room is equipped with fan so it's quite hot during the day but not problem at night. Bed is a little hard because it's just mattresses piled together. There are big and small bathrooms and they are Japanese-style, so it can be a problem if you're not used to it. The lounge and kitchen are comfortable. Worth the price we paid.

Alpine Backpackers has pretty well everything a traveller needs - a warm welcome, comfortable beds, good lounge, well equipped kitchen, clean bathrooms, free wifi, and an excellent breakfast for a very good price (JPY 500). The location is a little way out of town, not so good - but perfectly OK in the summer season, probably better in the winter as its close to the ski slopes.
