Stay of 1 week in an apartment of the Darrehof hotel. 1. Good points: apartment was nice and clean, enough space for a family of 5p. We could also enjoy the facilities of the hotel, ie. the swimming pool, the wellness and indoor play room. 2. Points to improve: - kitchen is too small and not handy for a group of 5 to 6 persons - noice and shouting in the street during the nights - most disappointing point: the price we paid for 1 week was really way too high: you don’t get enough value for the money spent: for this price (around 2.000euro) breakfast should at least have been included as well as the car parking place below the hotel building for which you have to pay extra! A higher amount is charged maybe due to the location in Serfaus... As such it is a nice hotel to stay and people are quite friendly but balance between price and offered value is definitely not ok. For this reason we would not come back since we have the feeling to have paid too much.

This is our second time staying at the Darrehof. Rooms are small but very tastefully decorated. They serve a European style breakfast in the mornings, but no other meals. They also have a small bar that opens in the evenings. Entire staff is very friendly. One of the owners is always working and very friendly. This is a quiet hotel, but located in the center of town. I can’t imagine where I would rather stay while being in Serfaus. If you haven’t been to Serfaus, Austria it’s difficult to describe how beautiful this area is.

We have done in August 2016 a reservation for February 2017, which was confirmed including my credit card details forwarded. As I just wanted to make sure in December all is fine with reservation I got in touch with hotel and I learned they made a mistake and lost our booking........Alternatively a 2star bed and breakfast was offered. What a joke........For sure not a place to recommend, very unprofessional and not even any apologies......

Response from Darrehof, Leiter Front Office at Feriengut Darrehof
Responded Aug 20, 2017
Dear Mr. K. We are really sorry that you missed your skiing holidays last winter here in Serfaus. But just to explain a few things: We didn’t lose your reservation, we had to cancel it. After the expiration date for your deposit, we sent you the first reminder on 29th of September and we didn’t receive any reaction from you. So we sent you a second reminder on 8th of November and asked kindly to get in touch with us as soon as possible – no reaction again. On 1st of December we sent you an email with the cancelation of the apartment. We gave you another 2 weeks to contact us, but no reaction again. So we had to cancel the apartment on 14th of December. You mailed us on 14th of January to confirm your reservation. So all in all you had two and a half month time to get in touch with us, although you were not even a frequenter in our hotel (you had one stay and you canceled once) – so much about professional behavior. In 2013 there was a similar situation. We had to contact you twice till you informed us, that you forgot to cancel your reservation. We were really trying hard to help you to find an alternative apartment. That is not easy during carnivals week. It took us uncountable phone calls. With good luck we found a suitable apartment in a comparable aparthotel (not categorized by now since it is brand new) that was even closer to the cable car station. Once again, we are sorry that we got separated in anger, and we really hope, you will find a new accommodation that suits your requirements.

We stayed here twice. First time in 2015 - Kiefer - very nice. Charming apartment, well equipped. This time around - Ringelblume: very small kitchen with very little space to store and prepare food. Very few utensils and bowls of a decent size. No shelving in the hallway or anywhere else to store ski helmets, gloves. With 5 people in the flat, general chaos ensued quickly. The flat was very cold, even with all heaters on full throttle. A general sense of unhelpfulness prevailed. We felt that staff had difficulties answering questions one might expect tourists to ask - how to get from a to b and how long it might take. There was furthermore little inclination find an answer or solution. Top marks for location.

Response from Darrehof, Leiter Front Office at Feriengut Darrehof
Responded Aug 20, 2017
Dear Mrs. B. We are really sorry, that you couldn’t enjoy your stay as it was supposed to be. Indeed the regular occupation of apartment “Ringelblume” is for four persons, as it was offered to you. Apartment Kiefer is provided for 6 to 8 persons. Those two apartments are not comparable and they have completely different prices. It would have been very helpful, if you had informed us about the temperature in the apartment. The guests one week later did and we put an electronic heater inside for the first emergency solution. The next day the heater was fixed. Actually there was a technical fault. It is very important to us to get feedback from our guests, since we do not live in our holiday apartments but our guests do. We also recommend all our guests, if you need help or quality information, please contact our reception. Mrs. or Mr. Greiter in person or our receptionist will help you as good as they can. Please DO NOT bother our room maid on the floor. For sure she feels unsecure if she is in need to give information she doesn’t have. We are very pleased that your group still wants to spend their winter holiday with us and we are really sorry that this year there is no available apartment left for you during the New Year week. We remembered you as very pleasant guests and so we were kind of disappointed to read about your discomfort later on, public in the World Wide Web, instead of talking about it during your stay in our house. For sure, that would have made your skiing holidays to better ones.

We were a mixed family group that stayed in a couple of self-catering apartments. There is nothing in anyway negative that I can say about the Feriengut Darrehof - fabulous apartments, excellent on-site amenities - pool, sauna area, small bar - great central location, quiet and superb staff. The apartment has pretty much everything you need for self-catering in great condition and there is a supermarket directly below the hotel. The underground to the gondola is across the road, although it is only a 3 minute walk in any event. The hotel does offer breakfast if you wish, but we availed of popping to the bakers across the road every morning for fresh croissants and rolls. Whilst we were informed the hotel was busy you never got that sense .. it is spaciously laid out, great ski-depot and very quiet. There is also a nice play room for smaller children.

We had great stay during our last winter holiday. Location is perfect right in the center, opposite of the underground to and from the ski lift (unique for such a small town). A supermarket is located below the hotel. Our apartment was equipped with everything necessary for a carefree holiday (fortunately including a vacuum cleaner, very handy with small children ...). Nice pool and a nice sauna. Also indoor playground available for the young ones. One negative comment, a stay in Darrehof is expensive. But this could also be said for all hotels in Serfaus. Despite the comfortable stay we had, if the prices for the accomodation will go up coming season we will seek for a place in another village to spend our winter holiday.
