This was a lovely overnight stop on a 2-week walking trip along the old Pilgrim Way. Bedrooms and bathrooms were exceptionally large and tastefully decorated, with attractive art and exquisite linens. Our hosts Janet and Roger were friendly and so hospitable, even offering us a short drive in the morning to save us walking back through town before beginning our day's walk. Excellent all around!

We stayed for two nights 10/11 August. Our room was comfortably large and well appointed with a large en-suite bathroom with bath and shower, towels and wash flanels (a very welcome touch) and toileteries provided. Our double bed was soft and comfortable but being the standard size was smaller than we have at home, nevertheless perfectly acceptable. Ample tea / coffe making facility in the room. Breakfast was the usual cereals and fruit buffet followed by the full English and very flavoursome too! I am sure you could have a different breakfast if you were to request it. The house is very impressive, is well decorated and clean & tidy. Janet & Roger were most helpful and made us feel very at ease. The house is located on a quiet road where parking overnight is easy but during the days restrictions apply - 2 hours maximum with no return within 3 hours 8am - 7pm althought Sundays are free. Janet did say that they could privide a resident's parking permit if needed. I have the feeling that the ruleas may not always be strictly applied, at weekends anyway but you need to be aware of it. Watts Avenue is only a short walking distance from Rochester Castle and the historic high street and Chatham Historic Dockyard (well worth a visit) is only a short drive away. BTW, there is a great Indian restaurant at the end of the Watts Avenue: Shozna 153 Maidstone Rd, Rochester ME1 1RR. It pays to book in advance, especially at weekends.

My friend and I stayed for a 2 night break between Christmas and New Year. Our twin room was very spacious as was the bathroom, which is unusual in my experience. Everything was very clean and the B&B is very convenient for the rest of Rochester. Both Roger and Janet were very helpful and we were pleased to be picked up from the station and have our luggage delivered back there at the end of our stay. As it isn't always easy to find somewhere to stay at this time of year it was great that they both made us feel so welcome.

Perfect place for a restful sleep after a day walking around historic Rochester. The owners of Salisbury house had much knowledge of local history and the best places to visit. My bedroom was clean and very comfortable and I was made to feel very at home.I felt as if I had known the owners for years. Had a 2-night stay here and can't praise it enough. Friendly couple and super full English breakfast. Even offered to drive us to Chatham Docks! The 2 rooms are spacious and nicely furnished. Teas, coffees, biscuits and bottled water are all provided. Hope to go back again one day

Stayed here one night in the course of a walking trip from Erith to Aylesford. The location was ideal - quite close to my route which lay along the Esplanade, and very handy for the pubs and restaurants in the High Street. Couldn't fault my room and the breakfast was very good. I can't stand 'fry-ups', but this was way above that. I seemed to be the only one staying, and was provided with the Sunday Telegraph to read at breakfast - not my first choice of Sunday newspaper, but still!

Very comfortable and friendly B&B. Lovely full English breakfast, cereals , toast etc. would be happy to stay there again. Only a short walk to Rochester Castle and Cathedral. Plus a friendly pub (The Coopers) just around the corner.

My partner and I stayed here for one night to attend a graduation and enjoyed our stay. We paid £75 for the room, including breakfast, excellent value. We arrived late due to traffic but were warmly welcomed. Our room and en-suite were very clean and spacious. Full english breakfast the next morning was nicely cooked
