Nestled in a prime location for exploring Shenandoah NP and local attractions, The Mimslyn Inn is often described as an elegant, historic establishment with a charming atmosphere. Guests commend the clean, comfortable rooms, yet some point out their small size and the lack of in-room fridges and coffee makers as shortcomings. While the service generally receives positive remarks for being friendly, there have been occasional reports of rudeness. Despite its many praised features, some travelers question the value, expecting more for the price paid.

We arrived at 2 pm, in advance of the hotel’s stated 4 pm check-in time. The front desk needed to “Check with Management” to ascertain if the room was ready. A ten-minute delay ensued, but then we were pleased to learn that the room had passed a second inspection to confirm that it was ready. A bad first impression! The room felt as if we were entering a sauna! Heat on, sunny day, window shades up in this south and west facing room and outside temps in the high sixties. Although we were pleased with the space in the suite, the overall impression was old and tired: 1. The sofa cushions were so old that one’s legs touched the frame when arising. 2. Neither bedside lamp switches were operable (only a wall switch that controlled both). 3. The bed sagged … time for a replacement! 4. Sink drains did not close properly. 5. No shower curtain in sight. On the other hand, our experience with the staff was quite positive. We enjoyed the property’s views and can imagine a lively poolside vibe for summertime visitors. At the price point of this property, our expectations are higher. We will not return.

My husband and I stayed in room 223 on a weekend trip to Luray. Our visit was short, but the hotel staff was welcoming. The hotel is located very close to Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. The room and bathroom were on the small side, but comfortable. There is a pool, hot tub, Spa, speakeasy and restaurant within the hotel, but we did not stay long enough to enjoy these amenities offered.

We were there recently for our 4th or 5th Murder Mystery Weekend. As always, we had a delightful time, though we didn't solve the mystery. Room was clean and comfortable. Food, including buffett breakfasts and lunches plus a plated dinner Saturday night were great. Staff at every encounter were pleasant and professional. We'll be back.

Beautiful, historic hotel. My husband and I went for the weekend and had a much needed relaxing time. Spa on premises with many options including a couples massage, which was perfect. Rooms are beautiful, clean and cozy. We both slept very well. The staff is friendly and always happy to help with anything you need. Both restaurants on site have outstanding food. We cant wait to go back.

Nice historic inn with large rooms. The bed was very comfortable. Things are beginning to look a little shabby though. Our room had a jacuzzi tub which we did not use. The cleanliness of the jets looked a little questionable to me. Coffee and muffins available in the lobby for breakfast.

Yes, 5 star on the bedding. Exquisite. Iyou’re used Hilton, etc. this is more luscious with 17 century reproduction furniture , fireplace, baby grand piano, It has ambience. If the property was matched in service. . . But then it’s hay day was the 30s. Thanks Scott Fitzgerald big parties. Unfortunately matching that kind of social vigor isn’t happening here.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your thoughts on your recent stay with us. We're delighted to hear that you found our bedding to be exquisite and appreciated the charm of our 17th-century reproduction furniture, fireplace, and baby grand piano. Creating a unique and inviting atmosphere is something we take great pride in. Your comparison to the elegance of the 1930s, the era of Scott Fitzgerald's big parties, is truly flattering. We strive to capture the essence of that era and transport our guests to a time of sophistication and allure. We also appreciate your honest feedback regarding the service. Please accept our sincere apologies if we fell short of your expectations in that aspect. We are committed to providing exceptional service, and your comments will be shared with our team for further improvement. We understand the importance of matching the property's ambiance with top-notch service, and we are dedicated to refining our guest experience. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us identify areas for enhancement, and we sincerely thank you for bringing it to our attention. We hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future, and we will make every effort to ensure that your next visit is truly exceptional.

This is a gem of an inn. We stayed in the white oak cottage. My Mother in law is in a wheelchair and this cottage is ADA compliant. The cottage was beautiful. Warm and cozy. Comfortable beds too. The Circa 31 restaurant is divine! Great service!

I originally booked the Stoneyman cottage but they upgraded me to the Hawksbill cottage which I thought was really nice of them. The cottage was so cute! It was private with our own parking spot and was a walkable distance from the main house. One night we were able to just walk to the Speakeasy restaurant and the food there was amazing. There was a pool in front of our cottage but was closed because of the season but we had a private hot tub which was the best! There was a bunk bed, cute little kitchen with a little fridge and a nice eating area. My only complaint was the shower. It was really small and the way it was set up, we had to lay towels all around the front of it because the water was coming out. Otherwise, I would definitely visit again.
