Surrounded by beautiful gardens on 12 acres. If it is peace and quiet that you are looking for, then you will find us located 1km from the main highway and approximately 5km from the nearest township (Warkworth) less than 5 minutes drive, in a very pleasant and tranquil valley. Millwood House features fee Wi-Fi and parking. Directions: Please follow the signs for Ransom Winery, once at the row of letter boxes you will see a large blue Millwood House sign. Follow this sign down the gravel road and at the bottom there is a sharp corner and once around this corner the drive for Millwood House will be in front of you.
We wanted to stop off somewhere on our journey from the Bay of Islands to the Coromandel Peninsula, and I'm so pleased we came across Millwood. The setting is idyllic, and although nearby Warkworth doesn't have much to it, we were able to find somewhere for dinner with some help from our lovely hosts. Melanie and Ian were extremely welcoming and gave us lots of helpful hints and tips for our trip - thank you! Our room was extremely comfortable, it had a great shower, and a lovely view across their beautiful garden. They also have a lovely big guest sitting room, which we didn't have time to make use of, but it looked very comfortable. Breakfast was on of the best we had over our 3 week trip. Melanie's homemade muesli and jams were delicious, and the cooked breakfast was very well made. Excellent value, highly recommend!…

This is a very convenient b & b, situated just off the SH 1 (the road to the Bay of Islands), and only a few minutes drive from the restaurants so Warkworth. The house itself is very well appointed and set in beautiful gardens, surrounded by fields of cattle and sheep. The three rooms are very comfortable, and there is a charming sitting room for the convenience of guests, with tea and coffee making facilities, and delicious home-made biscuits. Breakfast is served by Melanie in this room, and there are eggs laid by Melanie's hens, and her home made preserves and muesli - all delicious! Apart from all the other facilities one would expect in the rooms, there is also air-conditioning - wonderful for the hot summer months. All in all, I would highly recommend this b&b to anyone heading north, and Ian and Melanie are delightful hosts.…

Melenie and Ian were excellent hosts and very welcoming. Melenie makes all her own jams, muesli, and wonderful lemon shortbread biscuits which are available to help yourself along with tea, coffee and fruit. Breakfast offers a wonderful choice including cooked if you want it. The rooms were clean and spacious with doors onto the garden. The only downside is that the rooms get very hot and a fan would have been good. A convenient first stop as you are travelling from Auckland to the Bay of Islands.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed the homemade food and the gardens. Point taken about the rooms getting hot and we are looking at purchasing some fans for the next summer season. The humidity this summer was higher then normal.

A rural setting surrounded by vineyards, cattle and pasture Millwood is a great place to unwind. We only had one night here but it was long enough to feel we had known Melanie and Ian for years. Nicely appointed bedrooms with comfy beds and no light pollution make this a great place of relaxation. The house has large grounds which one can explore. Breakfast was superb with home made muesli, jams and marmalade followed by a good English cooked breakfast if you wished. We did not have time to visit the winery which is a short drive away. Would definitely stay here again. Good value for money.

Ian and Melanie greeted us like old friends, extremely hospitable and nothing was too much trouble. Exquisite garden and comfortable rooms, although walls very thin! Amazing breakfast (Melanie great cook!) with home made muesli and yummy home made jams. Will be back!

Early August, we spent a couple of nights at Millwood House just outside of Warkworth, New Zealand. Melanie and Ian were terrific hosts. Our room was wonderful, and the breakfasts were superb with home grown ingredients. Millwood House is down a long driveway sitting on 14 acres of green countryside with cows in the paddocks, and native birds everywhere. From here, it was easy to day trip the coast up around Leigh, Matakana, and Pakiri Beach. Thanks again for a great stay.

We stayed here just one night but we wish that it was longer. Such wonderful hosts who really care about their guests. Beautiful rooms, comfortable bed and such a quiet, peaceful spot you are all but guaranteed a great rest and sleep. The breakfast was simply yummy with homemade toasted cereals and jams with loads of options for both cooked and continental breakfast. Thank you both for such a great stay. We hope to back one day.
